Nest Drake Meat AGAIN

Soo its been about 3 years since I managed to make about 5 Bristlebane Challenge Sanwiches and now in my Old EQ Age I decided to do it again. Dare I say out of the challenge of it. Yes Im mainly doing it for the challenge so it might sound like a conundrum to complain BUT its true; there is not a word to describe the Drop rate of Nest Drake Meat; No ! RARE does not FIT. Horse meat is rare, Tupeata Livers are rare, Sea Dragon Meat is just Hard to get and Nest Drake meat is in another catagory not yet Penned .

Ngreth PLEASE tweek the drop rate of Nest Drake meat JUST A BIT. The drop rate currently is just not resonable; they are more mythacal then rare. Ive spent the last 3 days trying to get even just one when my goal was to make 6 Challenges.

Im an 85 Ranger with over 4k AA so I am able to kill a BUNCH of mobs and have not had one single meat drop. I pulled all of Lavaspiner Drakes in single large pulls about 4 times probably killing over 300 draks not one meat, Ive proably cleared another 300 in the NEST still not one meat. Im thinking I should not have taken this challeng up again because its becoming more of a frustration then a challenge.

Not to mention trying to get Sea Dragon meat from any of the only 3 mobs that drop that when they are permantly camped and one cant fine any of the three up on track in weeks and weeks .

If the drop rate is 1 % how about goign to 2% ? it would still require alot of work to get. ATM its just beomcing hours and hours on the computer; not a challenge.

Have you tried doing one of the nest missions? I used to farm clues or something like that to get nest drake meat. Drop rate is still bad, but I did manage to get some.

Recent Experience

Last time I intentionally tried to farm Nest Drake Meat was just just a couple months ago. The zones I hunted for the meat were the zones specifically indicated by EQTC, Alla's, Lucy, and Magelo. I was hunting the correct mobs in the correct zones, I have no doubt of that. As I recall, I spent 9 hours one day and 12 hours the next, and wound up with a grand total of one (1) Nest Drake Meat. Yup, a whole one. I box a pair of toons in current raid gear and I can erase an overwhelming number of drakes in 20 hours time. Its not as if I just kill slowly.

The meat has always been ungodly stupid rare. When content was current, Metallic Drakes Scales and Glossy Drake Hides dropped like candy compared to the elusive meat. Back then, I remember trading three MDS/GDH for one meat. This is when those armor items were selling in bazaar for 30k each ... in essence one meat was worth 100k when the content was current and literally swarming with players.

The rarity of the meat was balanced by the sheer volume of players killing in the (then) current content and as a result the meats entered the world at some sort of acceptable/expected rate.

Fast forward four years time and the expansion is fairly deserted. As a result the quantity of meat entering the world is now exceptionally tiny. Gone are the days of picking up meat from friends, guildmates, bazaar, or even (shock) merchants!! Now, if you want meat then you better be prepared to spend a ridiculous amount of time farming a piece or two.

This what Im saying. Even if the drop rate doubled it would still be a very challenging endevour to make a few Bristlebane Challenges. Currently its just "ridiculous" theres a difference between chellenging and ridiculous. This is the problem.

Magelo seems to indicate that Darkclaw in the Broodlands have a drop rate of 2-4%.
According to them, a darkclaw drake as dropped it 4 times in 179 kills. While it is a small sample size, it is at least 4 hits.

My mage alt has been leveling in the nest from level 66 to now 72 (with AA on 50% for alot of that) and he has 8 rare does not describe

After three 8 hour farming sessions in the nest, and two missions in Thundercrest, and bothering everyone I know who hunts in those zones to look for it without a meat I gave up for now clearing with an 85 sk with all AAs. The game has to be fun. I had some from the past and made what I could.

I farmed for them for like 6 hours one day and got ZERO! The drop rate is beyond logic, reason and is completely counter to "presenting a challenge." It is simply inane.

Well I kept at it and finally had a lucky streak I guess. In about 3 Drake clearing of Lavaspinners I got 4 Nest Drake Meats. I was given another by a bored guildy that went killing in The nest prior to a raid and I think i got one more from Lavaspinners. Anyway I made 5 Challenges. While I still think the drop rate is to low for the Nest Drake Meats I still felt satisfaction from the hard work involved and the subsequent reward. I wish there were more Difficult quest like this for other Tradeskill goodies.
