  • Baking with Molasses

From The Rum Runner's Guide to rum, a recipe:

2 black strap molasses, oats, deadbone barley and...

fish jerky, horse jerky, shark jerky, basilisk jerky, drake jerky and cragbeast jerky.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to make the jerkies? There are lots of jerky recipes, and the 'jerking' process involves a smoker and a jug of sauces. However, there are no plain jerky recipes, it is all beer-battered or such.

There is also no sign of fish jerky. (might be Chum?)

      Tried ... but

There are two known vendor-sold jerkies: Chokidal Jerky and Grimling Smoked Jerky. Perhaps some vendor sells the other jerkies.

I tried to make jerky from Drake Meat, Fresh Fish, and Shark Meat, using combinations of meat, smoker and jug of sauces in Mixing Bowl or Oven. DNC.

I tried making a brew out of 2 black strap molasses, oats, deadbone barley and Beer-Braised or Beer-Battered Cragbeast Jerky in a Brewing Barrel and in an Oven. DNC.

It would help to know the source of "The Rum Runner's Guide to Rum."

The Guide is sold for a pittance by Grimblewinkle Cobblesocket in the Barren Coast.

One thing I'm pretty sure of is that we should just find or make these things and pop them in an oven together. There are exactly 10 ingredients here - a neat filling of the oven, which makes me unusually confident that there are no subcombines beyond the jerkies.

You can make "Freshwater Fish Filets" from certain fish. This can then be used in the "baking" template.

Makes 5 on a successful combine. Sorry, forgot the trivial but I think it was 255.

The recipe from the text is correct except that jerky is grilled jerky (hint). I don't want to ruin the recipe guessing for those still working on it.

It's a shame this recipe won't be done much, horse meat has a much better use in Bristlebane's challenge, it's far too rare to be used on this recipe.

Yeah, with as much as people charge for the horse meat this won't get bought when there are HMPs and MTPs around. If it wasn't for the horsemeat it would be a replacement for HMPs.

If the horse meat was exchanged with something else, say hynid meat it would be a very worthwhile item, imo.
