I dont know what level you are but if you're high you should be able to get a group going into Elddar forest. Not as common as ToB but wont need special key or flags to get into elddar.

I had an easier time farming the horse meat in Elddar than I did getting treant hearts. I'm not sure if its a more common drop in ToB, but in Elddar there's a nice cluster of unicorns by a pond, much easier to kill these than the horses in ToB.

And they die a LOT faster in Eldarr too, hehe. Unicorns don't summon, but do have an ae stun/dd iirc, and the pixies flying nearby assist and ae silence. short ranges on the ae's though, can usually avoid them kiting.

The unicorns are ranger-soloable, if you're careful. Just northeast and southeast of the lake are two small spots where you can root the unicorns without getting aggro from the sylphs or other roamers.

You'll need your DoN snare and PoR root to keep them parked. Zone immediately if you get an add of any kind. Get your magic resist up as high as possible. Bring haste, clarity, and celestial healing potions. And don't forget to use Trueshot when it's up.

Took me about 4 hours to get 2 horse meat.

I heard the pegasi can drop the meat too, but I never tried them.

Pegasi can, and make for an easier solo. It's less attractive duo/group because you run out of mobs. I set up camp west of the orcs, in the corner area made by the wall running south out into the zone a bit. You can kite along the N wall of the zone moving east/west without adds.

I think there were 4 or 5 pegasi, but do be careful, the unique named mobs in this zone are generally PH'es and "An enraptured pegasus" can sometimes pop as a wind spirit or somesuch, looks the same but summons.

I've not seen anything drop from the pegasi at all. I think they are made of papier mache.

Don't the Elddar Unicorns summon?

How do you all manage to kill anything in Elddar forest? - the lag there makes it impossible for me to search for branches let alone fight even with cliplane at 5. What's your trick for getting rid of the lag?

The unicorns don't summon, except possibly the named unicorns. The named ones are unsnareable, so I didn't stick around to find out if they summon.

As for the lag, all I can recommend is to get more RAM, a new graphics card, or a new PC. I have no noticeable lag with a year-old Dell Pentium D PC with 2GB RAM.

Well, thanks for the advice but I have a pretty decent PC and Elddar forest is the only zone I have real problems in. I guess I'll just have to buy my horse meat/branches unless anyone can suggest anything that doesn't involve upgrading my PC.

have you tried turning OFF sky graphics completely up there? I found that helped me.. it was the only zone I lagged in too.

Thanks for the advice Elyssanda, unfortunately I always have sky off along with all the other settings that have been said to cause lagging (from the days when I used to raid). Am now using the new UI /grumble, as I couldn't get the fixes to work for the old UI with SS, maybe that will help but havent tried yet.

They (The art sub-team) are currently looking at Eldar forest and making some optimizations.

I have no eta for it, but it looks like they are trying to improve the frame rate in that zone.
