That made me think, what if you could equip it? Hopefully, food items can be equipped ><.
    EDIT: Made into equippable items

you don't get stats from items in your ammo slot, so you would still have to put it in your packs to get the stats.

That's why I said Ammo (so you couldn't have one BBC in ammo and one in packs). If you could make BBC equippable in Ammo, maybe you could put a recommended baking skill of 250 or so on it (don't know if it would affect stats from food)?

I'm confused. What are you trying to accomplish by putting it in ammo, Lillanu?

The point isn't to actually equip it in the ammo slot, but to make it so it's equipment and can have a required or recommended level.

In the item data, the recommended and required levels are independent of whether the item is equippable. You could have an item that's not equippable but still has a rec/req level.

However, it is an open question as to whether the code that evaluates stat bonuses from food would take rec/req levels into effect. In theory, it's possible that the code would look at the food item, adjust stats based on rec/req levels (to zero if you do not meet the required level), then give you the adjusted stat bonuses. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a food or drink item that has a recommended or required level. I'll see if I can find some with some item DB searches.

A quick search of the EQItems database shows no food or drink items that currently have a recommended or required level.

Both of us are right. Daabu (not Kahmon) is saying that rec/req levels don't mean anything if they item isn't equippable. Consider a level 5 toon who has an item with rec level 60. If he equips the item, he gets 5/60 stats. But if the item is in his bags, the rec level is totally irrelevant. It's the same reason a level 1 bazaar trader can have a level 60 required item in a bag for sale.

The point I was making before is that it's possible the code that adds bonuses for stat food takes rec/req levels on the food into account. Since no existing food/drink items have a rec/req level, there's no way for players to tell whether it does. I suspect even the devs would have to check the code to find out, or at least make a food item with a rec/req level to test. =)
