  • Baking Quest From Chef Chowderly in Abysmal Sea

I am trying to do the Gates Baking Quest given by Chef Chowderly in Abysmal Sea. To make these Special Recipes he is giving me I must fish out 2lb & also 4lb Saltwater Tuna Fish.

The problem is that I have now been fishing forever both in Abysmal & Natimbi & have caught every fish under the sun except a 2lb or 4lb fish??? There is none that I have caught and I wanted to know if there is a known Bug for this baking quest.

    Thanks

    Inwe

Try fishing with somebody with almost no fishing skill. You will have better luck that way.:-)

      Zaltak

Zaltak you mean there are 2lb & 4lb Saltwater Tuna in there? I have gone through almost 300 bait now with no luck catching one!

So I should log on a low lvl char with no fishing skill?

omg this quest makes no sense. I've been fishing forever now!!!

        It is true.

Curently if you have a 200 fishings skill it is not posible to fish 2-3-4 lb fish.

I will see if I can fix that one of these days... it just has not been at the top of my priority list, since there is the "workaround" of getting an alt.

          Too Good At Fishing?

Curently if you have a 200 fishings skill it is not posible to fish 2-3-4 lb fish.

Why is this? People that work their buns off going up in skill should be catching them. People who do not work at the skill, this should take longer. This is totaly backwards. Why is it when you work & work & work your rear off this type of thing happens? I mean come on this is worse than RL & I play EQ to get away from that insanity!

If I am a fisherman & have excellent skill I should be just that. I mean come on some of us work our buns off to get good in a skill EQ!

This seams just a little too nuts. I'm a Journeyman Fisherman with a skill of 207 with my Brell's Pole. A Pole I also worked very hard to get.

I hope you do fix this cause it's backwards. I was born Naked with a club & worked to get all I have. These actions should be acknowledged especialy when these little things are not asking much. All you need to do is ALTER the Code which is very simple task for someone who programs for a living.

The higher your skill the bigger fish you catch. At a certain skill point you are simply so good that you never catch fish that small.

I'm sure it never occured to the person who made the quest that this was the case. I'm also sure it never occured to the person that made the fishing table for that zone that this would ever be a problem.

The higher your skill the bigger fish you catch.

K well that is not always a good thing especialy in this case because you can only make up the Magickal Food with the 2lb & 4lb Fish. Some of us like to bake & sell. There's more to EQ for some people than just leveling. Trade skills, creating & also selling is fun.

I don't want the bigger fish because I want to make up the Magickal food which can only be created with the small fish.

EQ should know by now that some of us Trade faithfully & is they make up Magickal Food Recipes some of us work & trade.

So I take it I am going to have to make a newbie char, buy a port to fish & pray I am not slaughtered to death each time I want to make up some magickal food?

              Please fix this bug!!!!

                Note To EQ

                Note To EQ:

I logged on to do this guest just for fun. What turned out to be just something fun to do on my weekend off turned into 4 hours of fishing with NO FISH.

Please understand this is extremly frustrating when you only have limited time to play. This guest I decided to do is from the Gates expansion. This is an old guest.

You should inform EQ players also of this message board. While I do come to EQTraders for Recipes I didn't know there was a feedback Message Board here. I've been an EQ player for over three years now.

Not too sure if people just Assume players know or what but most do not. A Guild member told me to come here to post when I couldn't get an answer online.

I hope you understand that some of us have been EQ Players for years paying every month. Not all of us are children or teens playing. I would assume I'd get my money's worth or at least what I am paying for.

Nothing on this quest states you must have a fishing skill of zero to get fish you need. This needs to be added information considering we do not really know how many people started this quest & gave up because of this bug.

I thought I'd have some fun this weekend on my time off of work baking new things. I'm a Grandmaster Baker with my Trophy. I do not need this quest to go up in skill. It was something fun to do.

Instead of having some honest fun I ended up frustrated with a lot of time just waisted. I hope you can understand this & that not everyone lives on EQ.

Dude, calm down. There's a very helpful community here who pointed out that for the time being this is how it is and the workaround is either to create an alt or (my own original idea) talk to someone to have him help you get the items you need. Like for example tell your story in Plane of Knowledge and I think you will find a helpful person. This is a multi-player game, so use the options avialable

If you had spent the time vendor farming that you spent writing those posts you would probably have your fish by now. I didn't even bother to make an alt when I did the quest... the vendors in natimbi have lots of fish quite frequently.

                      Bugs happen.

Not every Developer, and certainly not me is perfect. We don;t remember every nuance of the game when we make something.

Also, sometimes one person makes one thing, and someone else another. This is a few years old now. It is entirely possible that the person that made the fishing tables (who made some sense with "Hey you are a better fisherman, you catch bigger fish!") had no contact with the person that made the quest who may have just done an items search going "OK, I need fish. Hey look! 2 and 4 lb fish, that looks good I will use it"

If we had to contact every person on the team every time we did every little thing, we would get almost nothing done.

Mistakes happen. As it is, this quest was totally broken until recently, so it is only recently that this issue the fish was discovered.

Being realistic, we have larger priorities than going to fix one quest. It is on the list of things to fix, but it is not at the top of the list and that is just the facts of life. We are not superman, we cannot do 10 things at a time. Because of that, it takes time to fix bugs.

When I get time to go through old bugs like this, I will check it out. It is possible I will be able to add those fish to that table, though by doing so, I will make any particular fish harder to get because there will be more items on the table. Unlike Mob Drops... if I add something to the fishing table, everything else becomes a bit rarer, and there is nothing that can be done about that. The total percentage chance of everything on the table must equal 100%. With the Mob drops, I can alter the chance that something at ALL will drop... making it even out. (I.E. the mob has 50% chance to drop something at all... then 50% chance to drop X and 50% chance to drop Y. I can make X&Y 25%, add something new at 50% and make the chance that something will drop 100%, and X&Y drops just as often as it did before) With the fishing table there is nothing like that that I can adjust, so when I add something to the table, I have the "steal" the % chance from something(s) else on the table (Yeah I know somethings is not a word... just getting the idea across)

Alright, Ngreth has explained it's a bug, and that it will get looked at eventually. There ARE workarounds available in the meantime.

I am closing this thread, if you want to vent your frustrations, do so in PSR....remembering that the Rules still apply there too.
