  • Yet another MTP guide

I know many have been done, but I didn't like any of them as much as I liked what I was doing, so here is mine that I would like to share. I hope someone finds it useful. This is for Shadowhaven.

This is the full version. I will post the short version in the next post, which is basically just a reminder list once one has the route & method down.

    ==================

    Shadow Haven MTP Guide

Most of this takes place around the Spire Pool area of Shadow Haven unless otherwise noted.

This is a very fault-tolerant method, meaning that failures won't make you walk back to a vendor (unless you fail badly =). You either will have extra of something or will be right next to the vendor when doing combines.
There is enough room for everything in your inventory if you follow the directions exactly, including 2 spaces in the front of your first bag for a stack of food and drink so you do not eat the MTP components. It also inlcudes one spot for a collapsed mixing bowl though you will need to put one item in the top level inventory slot (that was occupied by your mixing bowl) while you swap out your mixing bowl for your 10 slot bag later-on if your baking skill is less than 227 (you'll understand as you go through this - it has to do with slicing the jumjum cake being no-fail at 227+). You CANNOT have anything else in your top 5 containers or you will not have room for this method.

    PREP:

Don't always need full stacks of components where I call for them but a stack takes as much space as less than a stack and allows for extras incase of failures. Since it is mostly inexpensive, one can always sell back extras.

    Get:
    eggs
    brownie parts
    vegetables (lots)
    fruit

    Space & containers needed:
    5 top level inventory slots
4, 10-slots bags (if one is a 10 slot sewing kit, all the better, if not no biggie)
    1 mixing bowl
1, 10-slot bag for later after finishing with the mixing bowl (if you have 6 top level slots available, then don't need to swap out the mixing bowl for a 10 slot bag - I was only able to get 5)

    Impliments to have in bags:
    file
    cake round
    dairy spoon

Non-vendor components to have in bags:
1 stack of winter chocolate (made from brownie parts that you got, see the following section)
    1 stack of vegetables
    1 stack of fruit
1 stack of clump of dough (made from eggs that you got, see the following section)

Also get any extra apricot marmalade from the bank from previous combines.

Pre-combines (only have to do every once in a while when you run out):

    1. Convert a stack of brownie parts into stack of winter chocolate in your mixing bowl. Get the frosting from the guy next to the oven, Fantoal Geabaran 250 x 1075). This is only done for every ~20 runs of 100 atttempts (2000 attempts).
    1 brownie parts
    2 frosting

    2. Make a stack or 10 (depending on bank space) of clump of dough in your mixing bowl, get stuff from the oven guy listed above, Fantoal Geabaran. Keep one stack on you and put the rest in the bank. Yield varries depending on the egg used.
    1 egg
    1 bottle of milk
    1 cup of flour

    Actual combines:

    1. Go to the lost turnip, -325 x 1625, Alorob Bolrodo and buy (shorty area):
    2 stacks of jumjum stalks
    1 stack of lettuce
    2 stacks of water flask

    2. Go to Talida Furrytoes, -425 x 1750, and buy (shorty area, sw of the lost turnip):
1 stack of loaf of bread

    3. Go to Fantoal Geabaran 250 x 1075, near the pool area (oven guy) and buy:
    1 stack of frosting
    1 stack of spices

    4. Go to the oven right next to Fantoal Geabaran and make the JumJum Cake, 1 of them:
    1 clump of dough
    1 jumjum stalk
    1 frosting
    1 winter chocolate
    1 cake round (returned)

Do *NOT* slice the cake yet. That will be done right before the final MTP combines as you will use 10 slots of bag space to hold the cake slices.

    5. In the oven, make the Apricot Marmalade, 12 of them (2 successful combines, you'll have 3 extra to save for later, make sure if you have extra from a previous run not to over-make them, you only need 9):
    3 frosting
    1 fruit

    6. In your mixing bowl, make the Marmalade Sandwich, 100 of them (9 successful combines, you'll have 8 extra):
    1 apricot marmalade
    1 loaf of bread

Neatly stack your marmalade sandwiches together somewhere in your bags.
    1/7 complete

    7. Go to the upper area (dirt area) and see Lesia Furthers, 125 x 325, first building on the left, 2nd door, and buy:
    1 stack of barley
    1 stack of hops
    1 stack of bottle

    8. Make the JumJum Spiced Beer: Go upstairs in the stilt house which is just south of Lesia Furthers and use the brew barrel, 75 x 400. Make 100 of them (10 successful combines).
    1 jumjum stalk
    1 barley
    1 hops
    1 spices
    1 water flask
    1 bottle

Neatly stack your jumjum spiced beer together somewhere in your bags.
    2/7 complete.

    9. Time to sell off some extra junk at any vendor to make some room:
    bottles
    barley
    hops
    spices
    loaf of bread
    8 extra marmalade sandwiches

    10. Head back to the pool area and to the poison/alchemy vendors. Specifically see Poison Medicinal, 125 x 1200. Buy:
    10 eucalyptus leaf
    10 fennel

    11. Make the Royal Mints in a mixing bowl. You need 100 (10 successful combines. If you fail, you can buy more eucalyptus leaf since you are still standing infront of the vendor.
    1 eucalyptus leaf
    1 frosting

Neatly stack your royal mints together somewhere in your inventory.
    3/7 complete

    12. Make the JumJum Salad in your mixing bowl. You need 100 (10 successful combines. If you fail, you can buy more fennel since you are standing infront of the vendor.
    1 fennel
    1 vegetables
    1 jumjum stalk
    1 lettuce

Neatly stack your jumjum salad together somewhere in your inventory.
    4/7 complete

    13. Time to sell some extra junk again to any vendor.
    lettuce
If your baking skill is 227+, sell:
    jumjum stalk
    frosting
If your baking skill is not 227+, keep the jumjum stalk and frosting until after you've sliced your cake at the very end. At 227+ baking skill, the slicing of the cake becomes no-fail and you no longer will need to keep extra cake ingredients on you incase of slicing failure.

    14. Head over to just south of the Alchemy/Poison vendors and you'll see 2 doors. The left one is the one you want (the right one is the smithy which you will need immediately after). Inside is Granger Kenforth at loc 25 x 1175. Buy the following from him:
    10 rennet
1 stacks of bottle of milk

    15. Make the Mature Cheese in your mixing bowl, 100 of them (10 successful combines) by combining the following items. If you fail, you are standing right in front of him and can buy more stuff!
    1 rennet
    2 bottle of milk
    1 dairy spoon

Neatly stack your mature cheese together somewhere in your inventory.
    5/7 complete

    16. Move everything out of your mixing bowl and put your mixing bowl in the bank, sell it, or destroy it. Then get the 5th 10-slot bag and put it into the space previously occupied by the mixing bowl. Collapsed mixing bowl and GM trophy right-clickie bag are both tops for this. You should have just enough space for this, but may have to put one item in the spot where your mixing bowl was until you get your 10 slot container in that space.

    17. Go to the building to the right (west) of the one you are in (were in if you had to go to the bank to swap containers. It has a shield with 2 crossed swords over the door. This is the smithy. Inside, next to the forge you will find Smithy Firehand, 25 x 1300. buy from him the following:
10 small brick of ore (you will only have room for 9 with < 227 baking skill)

    18. In the forge next to Smithy Firehand, combine the following to make Steel Boning. You will need 10 total, but I like to make 12 incase of failure later on when making baskets. You will need to buy 2 more small brick of ore when you have room for it and turn them into steel boning.
    1 small brick of ore
    1 water flask
    1 file

    19. Go back to the alchemy vendors (to the north) and see Lemsen Frostherb and buy:
1 stack of mandrake root (can buy 4 extra if you don't want to run back to the vendor on failures later-on)

    20. Make the Woven Mandrake. If you have a 10 slot sewing kit (cultural sewing kits work), you can do it right in inventory. If not, there is a loom very close by, just northwest of the alchemy vendors, 275 x 1425. You need to make 10 of these.
    2 mandrake root

    21. Make the Picnic Basket in your sewing kit or in the loom, you need 100 (10 successful combines). Combine the following. If you fail, you'll have to make some more woven mandrake, but if you have a 10 slot sewing kit, you are probably still standing infront of that vendor.
    1 woven mandrake
    1 steel boning

Neatly stack your picnic baskets together in your inventory.
    6/7 complete

    22. Time to sell junk again:
    steel boning (left-over)
mandrake root/woven mandrake (left-over if you bought extra using the loom)
    water flask

    23. Time to bank as well. Store the following in the bank:
    file
    dairy spoon
    fruit
    vegetables
    apricot marmalade
    With skill 227+, also bank:
    winter chocolate
    cake round
    clump of dough

    24. Slice the cake into Slice of JumJum Cake! Go to the oven next to Mr. Oven (Fantoal Geabaran), just to the immediate NE of the alchemy vendors, 250 x 1075. This combine is trivial at 27 and therefore becomes no-fail at 227+ baking skill. You will need 200, or 20 successful combines. If you fail any slices, you can make another cake with the items you have in your inventory still.
    1 jumjum cake

Neatly stack your slice(s) of jumjum cake in your inventory.
    7/7

    25. Bank the following if you were under 227 skill and did not already do so (I kept mine in inevntory till after 227 since I never made enough MTP's successfully until after 227 to have space problems, and I really didn't care if I dropped any):
    winter chocolate
    cake round
    clump of dough

    26. If under 227 skill, sell the following:
    jumjum stalk
    frosting

    27. The final combine. In the oven, combine the following for 100 attempts at skill-ups on the Misty Thicket Picnic. Complete success will yield 400 MTP's (4 per success).
    1 marmalade sandwich
    1 jumjum spiced beer
    1 royal mints
    1 jumjum salad
    1 mature cheese
    1 picnic basket
    2 slice of jumjum cake

    28. Find a way to get rid of the MTP's so you have room to go again. I also vendor sold all the extra sub-components that were left-over (mints, salad, etc). If you have salvage, there will eventually be enough leftovers on the vendor for almost a complete run.

    29. Repeat as needed until 300 skill or continue to make for fun and/or friends! =)
