  • Normal skill up ratio? Just curious

    3 days
    784 halas pies
    11 skill points
    new prosthetic wrist.

    I went from 202-213

    225wis (with kei)

This the normal skill up rate? or is it because im a big fat troll?

Trolls are notorious for not caring what the finished product looks like... and eating it rather quickly.

That may explain why they don't tend to improve their baking much.

Breaking it down though, 1 for 80 isn't as bad as you think.

For brewing I was doing sets of 80, and most times I would get 1-2 skill-ups, but there were times when I got none at all.

I was at 231 non Kei, then 235 when I stopped using geerlok at about 220 skill level or so.... 255 int with Kei which would be about 1/3rd of my brewing.

When I had Kei I seemed to skill up 2-3 times as often though, so when I am above 150 or so on a skill, I will probably be attempting to have it at all times for the future.

Went from 205 to 210 with 1 skill up for 20 combines of breaded storm salmon (215 trivial i think)
Tried to get to 211, currently 60 combines of MTP without skill up
Either i was lucky before, i'm unlucky now, or the trivial is really important

I started making misty thicket picnics when I hit 202 ( off of truffles) seemed like the least bit of hunting for the most combines.

It costs me 164 pp to make enough items to do 200 combines of the picnics. have done 2.5 runs ( 100, 200, 200) in the last 3 days.

Skill ups went like this : 100 combines 3 skill ups, 200 combines 4 skill ups, 200 combines 5 skill ups.. sitting at 214 baking atm.

At 304 INT, I am seeing about 1 skill up per 20 combines doing 10lbs. pies.
I don't keep track exactly but I'd say that worse case it's 30 combines per skill up on average for me.

It's hard to say if certain recipes give more skills up per combine. I would doubt it works that way.

I started tracking combines at 220 as I was getting very depressed at the progress... 219 to 220 seemed to be hundreds and I thought counting would make me feel better.

With wis at 265 it went like this:

              220 - 221 : 186 combines
              221 - 222 : 104 combines
              222 - 223 : 64 combines
              223 - 224 : 19 combines
              224 - 225 : 3 combines
              225 - 226 : 2 combines
              226 - 227 : 115 combines

A friend of mine says you aren't allowed to start sulking until you've done 60 combines without an imp, which sounds fair to me. On the basis of 3 (!!!) imps in just over a stack of combines, I have to say that more than made up for the slowness before.

However, I would like to point out that those fast combines were on halas pies, where I had stacks of ingredients all set up to make them. Typically, I suddenly wizzed through 3 imps and had stacks of filleted meat in cream for a recipe that had just gone trivial to me. I'm sure that affected the RNG! *grin*

I tracked my combines from 200 to 250.

I averaged one skillup in every 32 combines or so. It took me just over 1600 skillups to go from 200 to 250. I did about 300 skillups on HMP's and Cheese Casseroles, but the other 1300 were all misty thicket picnics.

I found that my skillups GREATLY improved when I had my geerlock in hand past 220. I had a wisdom of 275 throughout.

                  Starting from 191 skill

                  1440 combines
                  25 skill ups
                  101 successful combines

1 skill up per 57 combines - although my average has gotten better lately due to some INT gear upgrades - with a C3 I can pull a 204 INT with a troll SK - woot!

I averaged over 100 combines per skill up from 180-250. Did mostly Truffles to 202, then a few HMPs, a bit of Holy Cake when I needed variety, but mostly picnics. I had 105 stacks of picnics on a mule when I was done, about 8 stacks of Holy Cakes, and 10 stacks of Halas Meat Pies. And... I'd been giving them to friends and selling as I skilled up. Wisdom of 255.

So ~ results can vary widely. Good luck to you!

It took me just over 1600 skillups [ed: attempts] to go from 200 to 250.
With 255 INT and Geerlok in hand it took me just about the same number of attempts (1516 in total) to get from 200 to 250. All MTPs.

I averaged over 100 combines per skill up from 180-250.
Don't forget that from the high 180s to low 200s are the hell levels - my only saving grace was a lucky run in the middle numbers - otherwise it was all 100-200 combines per skill up with 212 being my lucky number from 188-189.
