Maevenniia, whats wrong with batteries? I happen to be a class that cant invis so I do go through lots of Mana Batteries - Class Five. Plus I prefer to be shrunk while I ride my horse, so I go through Mana Batteries - Class Six now as well. I am not sure just what you are insinuating.

My trophy is in pottery, not baking, but I read a tip somewhere after failing my first attempt that seems to work (and as a maker of Artisan's Seals I advise those customers who ask to follow this tip...)
Attempt your trophy combine following a series of failed combines (a baker friend made his after two sets of 8 in 10 fails) in your tradeskill. For some reason, you have a greater chance of success then... maybe it is the very act of switching to a different combine that does it, but it seems to work.

Personally, I think waiting for maximum skill level for trying for trophy is a waste of resourses. If you are having difficultly maxing out your main stat, the trophy will usually help you out and allow you to get best prices from a vendor. All these things will help you in your final skill ups.
I just nailed my fifth trophy today ( 5 different characters btw). Took me two tries for fletching at 235, two tries for baking at 233, two tries for smithing at 243, one try for brewing at 248, four tries at 250 for jewel craft. All these were done with a geerlok except for baking (I forgot to load the thing up lol). My guild has a rogue poison maker that has failed his three times at 250.
The point here is that waiting won't insure sucess. Get the trophy while you can really make some use of it getting those last few skill ups.
BTW todays trophy was obtained by a level 21, so don't worry about level either.

I have to agree with that. That is why I tried mine at 201 Tailoring and was so happy to succeed. I am a hair foot Hobbit and have a starting cha of 50. I had to lug around in an already crammed set of bags and bank space two steins and a necklace to get my cha over 100 OUCH. Now I carry just one stein and my trophy in the range slot and I am over the mark.
Update on baking trophy my friend is 5of5 at 250 so far.
Update on baking trophy my rl wife Clairice made her trophy she tried once at 249 and then made some more food and skilled to 250 while I made another seal and she succeeded at 250 WOOT WOOT.
