Breaking 200

Ok I am stuck at 199 in Baking... I have been baking Holy Cake, Cheese Casserole, and cinnisticks since 191. I think I have made over 600-700 Holy cakes. I have 2 questions...After I break 200 does skilling up get any easier? Second, What would you all suggest I bake at 200?

As of yesterday I was stuck at 199 too. Since hitting 199 I believe I did about 40 halas meat pie combines, 22 hero sandwich combines, 15 breaded storm salmon combines, 37 justice fruit pie combines and 10 mephit meat sandwich combines until I finally reached 200. So yes it does seem that the leap from 199 to 200 is a bit rough. A friend of mine brought up a good theory as to why this could be, she said that it's probably a piece of code left over from a long while ago when the max you could get to in tradeskills was 200. Verant would have obviously wanted to make it a challenge to max out that last point(back then it was technically the last point one could reach). They're probably too lazy, busy or just do not care about rebalancing that point now. Either that or you and I have just had some bad luck =P.

Took me about 40 combines on Halas meat pies to break 200 and another 80plus to get to 201. I'm hoping I was just having a bad run with RNG that day.

It happens - it took me 212 pattymelt combines to go from 188 to 189 just a night or two ago.

Ahhh, don't say that - I'm at 191 now and just burned 40 HMP, 80 MTP and 20 misc.

Ill say it then.. I too, am stuck at 191. 100 MTP combines later Im STILL at 191 **cries** NOT FAIR!

I need to raise my tailoring some more though as those baskets really hurt on the wallet.

I suffered from about 180 all the way to the 240s. Finally in the 240s I got decent success rates, but the previous 60 points were brutal.

Storm Salmon does wonders, or it did for me at least, went from 187-200 baking all in under 200 combines...I'd suggest giving it a try of your PoStorms flagged and can get in there to fish

after hitting 191 started making anaconda and griffon melt. getting 1 skillup per stack of meat. currently at 196 now.

I read something somewhere that skillups are more likely to come after a successful combine, and you're more likely to get successful combines when you're close to the trivial for that combine.

I went from 200 - 250 using the following combines:
200-202 - Ohabah Truffles
203 - 226 - Halas Meat Pies
227 - 242 - Holy Cake
242 - 250 - Misty Thicket Picnics

I personally wouldn't recommend using Misty Thicket Picnics to skill-up at less than 200 skill. At 250 with my baker's spoon I still only have a 50% success rate on picnic combines, sub-200 you're probably looking at a 5% success rate or worse. If it's true that you're more likely to get a skill point on a successful combine, you're better making something you have a better success rate at.

I've seen various tradeskillers reference that, but I've never seen a pattern in my skilling up, and I thought Niami had posted at one point the SOE tradeskill guru (can't remember his name) had actually said specifically that it wasn't true. :?

I also kind of rember that as well, about the skill-ups...

Personally, I think skill ups should happen more on failures, as I believe that by failing to do something, nets you more knowledge. Rather than making something again and again the same way.

Anyways, I have always believed the calculation would always be made per attempt, based on whichever relevant stat you have that is the highest...
