  • Selling to merchants

Hi im a new baker and am wondering if theres away i can make my money back from baking when praticing going up in the trade skills

You might be able to recoup some of your losses, but tradeskills will not (and are not supposed to be) make money by selling to NPC vendors. You would be better off making items that players want to buy if you want to try to make back some of the plat that you will spend on raising your tradeskills...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

To follow up Kkrak's post, the recommended skill up for baking usually includes tons of fish roles and patty melts. Both of these sell for over cost, usually pretty quickly, in the bazaar. Check your local bazaar for those prices

Fish rolls are great filler food (wt .1 banquet sized meal tiny size), I always keep a stack or so in inventory. 1 fresh fish + 1 batwing, trivs at 135. Go to PoK (bring your own spit) to the western trade center. dark elf has batwings. Barb fisherman has fish. Bake to your heart's content.

NO tradeskill recipie will EVER produce a profit. You can thank the macro-d00dz for that. Won't go into the how, but they were exploiting the system to make free plat. Then they fixed the problem by nerfing sellback prices. You will NEVER see anything that is combined from merchant sold items sell for more than the sum of it's parts, even at optimum buying/selling prices due to cha and faction.

Or for the more mathmatically oriented readers:

Given optimal prices, if you had a tradeskill item Z that was made from vendor purchased items X and Y, the sellback price for Z is equal to or less than the purchase price of (X+Y).
