Know any forager friends? don't be afriad to mention to your friends/guildies that you are working on your baking and are interested in obtaining some veggies. they maybe willing to give you what they forage or might sell them to you cheap.

Haven't seen PoP baking mentioned yet...

If you're into BoT, Vann Toes and Jord meat can be used to get to 250 quickly. No foraging, but there is farming involved. The good thing is that you get crazy aaxp while farming, so it's all good. Do have to worry about the trains though... BoT = Karnors v2.0

Mephit Meat also useful for this, found in nearly any teir 1 zone I think.

The effect of a capped or lower skill in foraging will be that you will not always find something, where at 200 you always pickup something. I don't believe skill effects whether or not you get a rare forage, but if you never fail when you mash the button, you get more because you have more chances to get one

Nexus/Bazaar are great for easy to get to/safe zones to forage for the standard items (veggies/rabbit meat/roots/pod of water/berries/fruit/fishing grubs). When skilling up baking, I asked for help from my guild with veggies myself, even though my main is a forager, I am not always in zones that have veggies (or whatever I need at the time).

        Good luck!

Woodelves start with a forage of 50, I know; Iksar have some skill also but can't be a foraging class to get better. Foraging skill is level-capped, so making a foraging class of a woodelf wouldn't change the foraging ability until the character was old enough to skill up beyond that (I forget the formula to know what level that would be, eep). The higher the skill, the more likely it is that you'll get something... capping to always getting something at 200.

Formula is 5 + (lvl x 5). So, at 10th lvl a wood elf druid or ranger could start increasing their skills up to 55 and at 39th you could hit the cap of 200 and never fail to forage something.

              best spots for veggies

For some reason I have found the higher zones to be rich in veggies! PoE and SolRo I have been spending a lot of time in for exp and raids lately, and I swear I get way more veggies than anything else (was feeding hubbies baking skillups, now am about to start mine! eek!)

I personally am with Cubwynn; just buy the veggies in bazaar. On occasion they are fairly pricey 3-20pp(!). But more often than not there are veggies for sale at 2gp-2pp and in quantity (at least on Morell-Thule). I have a forager (Wood Elf Ranger 33 with maxed forage) and still bought them to use on Gates recipes. It just takes too long to forage the volume needed even if your skill is high and even more so at the 50 skill of a starting Wood Elf (or Iksar). Remember that you need roughly 1 stack of veggies for each skillup. It will take you much, much longer to loot that volume of brownie parts for Holy Cake. Another advantage is that once you have the veggies and meats, everything you need is in one room in Abysmal Sea [Edit. not quite true as you need lots of eggs for skilling to 250; just go farm the basilisk cave in JPF: 0-5 eggs per genitor]. Besides if you do the Gates trials, all that food will help with the Yumjo (sp?) faction quest.

                Just my 2cp worth.

These prices look average for Saryrn, which is one of the reasons my baking skill is sitting at 196. The cheapest in our bazaar is 5pp each, with some people wanting 20pp each (not each stack, each veggie).
