  • Justice Fruit Pies and Hostess Pies...

Okay, I had posted this on Christmas Eve (I believe) and I think it got nerfed when the servers were switched (something like three hours worth of posts were accidentally dumped)... if it was deleted for being not entirely on-topic, then my apologies for re-posting... I thought it would give the bakers that were slaving away a mildly humorous holiday break.

Anyhow, does anybody else see "Justice Fruit Pies" and think of the old comic book advertisements (showing my age a bit) where Justice League characters (and other superheroes) would foil the villainous plans of evil-doers everywhere using nothing but Hostess Fruit Pies? If you've never seen these ads, there's an archive of them at:

    http://www.seanbaby.com/hostess.htm

I would probably sell a lot more pies (of any kind) if I had superheroes to endorse them for me. :P

LOL - whenever I think any kind of fruit pie, I can't help but think of the McDonald hot apple pie and using them in place of thermite to cut through engine blocks and steel gerders.
        Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

Direct Reference: Dexter's Laboratory, Cartoon Network. One of their shorts involves a set of heroes called the Justice friends.

And they had a Justice Fruit Pies cartoon short, an old spoof off the Hostess pies ads like you said. Major Glory saves Dexter and Dee Dee from the evil Mathemagician using Justice fruit pies.

"JUSTICE FRUIT PIES.. the snack you'd be CRAZY to hate"

It wasn't a full cartoon, just a quick short inbetween regular cartoons.

Actually Omelet du Fromage is originally from a Steve Martin routine and they stole it. Steve used to say "It's like those french have a word for everything!" so he taught himself "omelet du fromage" and practised it every day!

Probably Dexter too though, as Justice Fruit Pies bit was probably on the part where Dex tries to learn French but only learns Omeltte Du Fromage
