  • **jingles the coins in his pockets** Help!

    Hey folks!

Have a slight problem here. Im an aspiring baker and I just hit 191 about a week ago, and havent had a chance to get any farther. So Ive finally sat down to crunch the numbers for Halas Meat Pies (to get me to 226). Im gonna do it in a 200 combine batch to start with, then do smaller batches after that (because more success = more yield = less space).

    200 sage leaves = 420pp
    17 benzoin = 36pp
Everything Else is being given the rough number 100pp

Thats 560pp. With my 120pp in pocket thats very very hard. So now were here to my two questions.

First, can anyone suggest a relatively good spot to pull cash for a 47 ranger?

And second, how much does a HMP run for in the bazaar (More or less, if any of you folks are from E'ci let me have it. But any price is better than no price!)

    Thanks a ton guys!

I have good news and bad news for you.

First the bad news. Because the HMP is so heavily used as a skill-up route post pattymelts, you should expect to get 0 return on your investment. With prices on my server (solro) ranging from 1p-3p (i have had stacks sit on my trader for weeks at 3pp a pop) unless you have an insanely good run with the RNG you can't hope to make a profit at the level that these still are not trivial.

    Heres the good news.

It is possible to make the money needed for the sage leafs and benzoin while farming the components. Get your ranger butt down to EF and start killing mammoths. These are normally camped by the mid to upper twenties crowd but with the release of LoY many people are out playing there brand new froggies instead. Killing the mammies will get you both your mammoth meat for pies as well mammoth tusks which will sell to vendors for close to 10pp depending on your CHA. While you are out there you can also slaughter the many spiders which have an Ok drop rate of silk that can easily be sold in bazaar. If you have managed to keep your forage skill up to par you could alternatively go to Gfay and kill spiderlings for silk while foraging morning dew(to sell to high elves--going rate on solro is around 50pp a piece and very quick sales at that price) and cinnamon sticks (to raise your baking skill). Or you can go to Lfay, (with a group) get cinnamon sticks and morning dew while killing brownies for cash and parts.

Really, as a 47 ranger you shouldn't have much trouble rounding up 500pp.

    hope this helps

I have sold HMP on Xev for 3-4 pp each and they sell like hotcakes!

If you have the time to forage make Justice Fruit Pies.

I you spend about 300pp on 80 attempts and can sell the success at 25pp+ (depending on your server of course).

got bad news for you jack

if you make a batch of 200 combines, that'll mean you'll need 60 stacks to put the finished products

and even worse, you'll need about 80 stacks before this to be able to keep the precombines on you

HMPs take a lot of room, i usually make batches of 80 combines and it requires me to empty 3 10 slots bags and 1 8 slot...

not to mention it's horribly heavy (think +7.2 WT for each stack you make)

... but the good news is, with the LoY bank expansion, I can finally get loaded up with 7 deluxe toolkits and a mixing bowl/spit and finally get down to the grind

The mammoth tusks idea is an excellent one, I spent just a few hours in Everfrost at the weekend hunting Mammoth with my baby bear pet, and got far more tusks than meat  fortunately I was able to tempt another player who was just hunting mammoth for cash to sell me 7 1/2 stacks of mammoth meat, buffed him to the gills, and ported out of there

If you prefer to just farm some cash up front, clearing out a lowish level dungeon for fine steel and bronze is also a good way to go (if you have some WR bags that is) - and you may be able to tackle the hill giants in the Rathe Mtns, even at your level a few hours work will easily net you 500pp.

              save some money

To save some money try the Ohabah Truffles or Pixie Stick route to get to 202 first.

There's a vendor in Gukta that once per game day will refresh his supply of mushrooms, so if you can get to him first you can buy 25 every 72 minutes or so. Plus, since you're a forager you can forage the mushrooms in any zone in Luclin.

The pixie sticks are a bit harder, needing 3 pixie dusts per cinnamon stick, but the pixies are plentiful at their tower in Lfay, and all you need to do is forage the cinnamon or buy it in the bazaar.

If you buy the stuff in the bazaar you don't save much over the Meat Pies, but with only a couple ingredients per reicpe, it makes for less mouse movements when actually combining them all, and if you can buy the mushrooms off the vendor you only pay 1sp for each.

As far as an E'ci-specific data point: the only batch I ever made of HMPs, I had no trouble selling for 3.5pp each, but I wouldn't expect more than that, and I might have been lucky.

If I were you, I'd go with Ohabah Truffles to 202, and only resort to HMPs after that; mushrooms are now available off a vendor (sporadically) in Gukta, so you're not stuck with only foraged mushrooms, they sell consisently for 1.3 to 1.5pp each, and they're a lot cheaper to make than HMPs. (Yield 4 per success, and cost I think about 1.5 pp per attempt, and should get 75% success or so, at least, so you'll turn a profit on these.)
