    Bah

So i finally farmed enough eggs and wolf meat and mammoth meat and i am ready to make he creamy sauce and get ready to make pies and all of a sudden i notice in bazaar halas meat pies sold by this guy at 2platinum a piece.

    I mean there are those with 3 3.5 4.5 and 5pp but for god's sake 2pp.

How will anyone make good profit from this? :x

Is there a betetr zone to sell pies in? i mean /auction

And if those say "nah i'll just get it for 2pp from bazaar? "

Unfortunately, some people just want to unload trade skill items in the bazaar and don’t worry about how it will affect other players who also sell such items. What I usually do in such cases is set my price as low as I’m willing to sell the items for. Then I forget about them. For Halas Pies that’s 5pp each. Eventually the vendors selling them very cheaply will either sell out or log off. It may take a while, but I usually sell them. So if you are making these for the purposes of skilling up, then you should eventually be able to sell them. On the other hand, because they are so commonly used for skilling up, I wouldn’t recommend making them for the purpose of filling your bank box with gold. The market is just too flooded with pies for anyone to make their fortune with them. If you have the coins and the bank space, you might also consider buying the other person out at 2pp each and selling the pies at 5pp each. That could backfire on you, but it might also be an easy way to make a few plats. If you are serious about trying to auction your pies, especially if you are a druid, you could try taking some to out-of-the-way zones with high-level characters, such as Dreadlands, and advertise them there. OOC the stats and offer to deliver them. I haven’t tried this, but it seems like it could work.

It's a free economy, sell at what you like.....

Or you could just buy all the cheap goods from the offloading vendor and sell them at your price, still making a profit, killing 2 birds with one stone

        That just encourages them.

Take comfort in knowing that after they are done"unloading" they will realize that the market is now hosed for them as well  Baking is now offically jewel crafting of the past.

After failing on 5 attempts at my GM spoon, I needed to get some pp back. I set myself up in the Bazaar selling all the MTPs I had just made in my run from 200 to 250 at 10pp. This was two thirds of the 'going price' of 15pp on my server.

Instead of just setting the price at 10pp and leaving them on my trader for people to discover, I set up a periodic auction along the lines of:
[code:1]Selling Misty Thicket Picnics for below the going rate of 15pp to raise quick cash. 1600 left at only 10pp/each[/code:1]

I would then decrement the count every few minutes (they went pretty fast).

When I started to run out I let people know that I would be logging and that the price would be back up to 15pp when I got back.

The hope was that folks would think that 10pp was a 'special' and I would reinforce the 15pp price as the 'normal' price. I'm not totally sure if it worked, but I have yet to see anyone else selling at 10pp since I stopped selling at that much.

On Lanys the other day they were down to 5p each. I have not checked since. Baking is dead on Lanys until some people wake up and smell the coffee.

The big problem I find with this is that people will stop selling if they are not making a large enough profit to justify the effort.

In order to compensate for less and less sellers of Misty Picnics and Kaladim Constitutionals I had to invest 3 aa points in innate metabolism, 3 aa in Tanaan Mastery to GM brewing, and saving another 3 points so I can GM baking in order to make my own food.

I have no problem paying asking price in game. Cash is not my concern, finding the product is harder than finding the money to buy the product.

When people off load product at such a low price they drive other out of business it lowers the amount of suppliers. Eventually the low priced person sells out and with no one left to replace them it leaves the buyers out in the cold.

My own personal opinion on the subject is that if I have too much product left over and no one is buying at a matching price I just pass it out to friends. Better to put product to use without ruining the economy by selling too low than to drop going rate so low no one sells anymore.

In the bazaar I won't sell Halas Pies for under 5p. I regularly see them at 3p 5g now though.

I did a baking spree all day yesterday (got really lucky and went from 215 to 223!) though and somewhere in the middle I literally couldn't bake any more until I cleaned out my inventory. I went to PoK and auctioned them as a "clearance special so I had room to bake again" and cleared them out in about 20 minutes then baked again. I wish I had a second account so I could have a mule to hold stuff but since I don't I dumped them at 50p/stack.

I used to shake my fist at people who would undercut prices in the bazaar (especially when selling off my wife's baked goods), but realized a few things: no one is always as patient to make a sale as I am, has access to a second account/computer to sell while they're playing, or has the ability to let their wares sell overnight (limited dial-up access). Since there are a few different "personality types" of tradeskillers, each one tends to have it's own view of the bazaar. Thankfully, my wife is patient and is ecstatic even if she sells Halas pies @ 3pp each - all her happiness comes when the skill-ups keep rolling in.

When I was selling at the bazaar:

                    1. Run specials when you are at the keyboard - this gives people a chance to ask questions, make deals, and overall i found they would buy from me in the future because you have made a personal connection vs buying from an unknown.

                    2. Sell at what covers your costs and then some - Try to trade goods for things needed - (meats in your case) This saves you costs.

Personally - now that I have hit 250 in baking - I am using MTP's to get other goods - I no longer sell in bazaar.

I have regular people that i make them for - and am currently working on tailoring - so I have been trading the equivalent MTP's amounts for Silks n Pelts. That may be a way for you to go in the future - as for the most part people have a lotta stuff but usually not a lot a plat.

There are several basic personality types to cause this problem -

                      1) Dumping to pay for his baking
                      2) Robin Hood syndrom - thinks he's helping by making it cheap enough for everyone to afford
                      3) Clueless - feels that since the meats were all "free" that he's "still making great plat"

No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

Bah what I did when i saw this was make about 600 pies (and for the love of god skill went up only once)

And now i roam the lands /auction -ing the pies for 4pp each or 5pp in harder to reach zones.
Places liek dl and kc and ew buy them.

                        Also tried LGUK.

Anyone got any other suggestion of where a lvl 38 can go safely to sel such pies?

You know those retail stores that around christmas or thanksgiving might have some items which they basically LOSE money on, in order to get people in the door to buy other items, it might be kind of like that.

Like "lets see what else this nut has.. oOOOH!!!"

                            /me ducks from incoming flames.....

I used to undercut when I was lerning to cook, 1pp here, 2pp there, just to unload my stuff. The prices were 20pp, after weeks, I have settled for 10pp each for MTP's and I seem to be the only vendor in AB that is regularly selling them. Am I evil or just a shrewd business woman?

From 100 combines, I make about 210 on average and it costs me about 125pp, so I make about 2k profit for less than an hours work, which is well worth the effort.

In a week I make about 1500 MTP's and sell the lot, but rather than raising the price because I'm a virtual monopoly, I keep it a 10pp.

I'm sorry if the new bakers are not selling their goods, but there are other recipies to practice on. Halas Pies, Holy Cakes etc etc.

                            Thanks for listening.
