  • Vegetarian skill ups

    I would like to know if it is possible to get to 250 skill in baking (or at least a somewhat high skill level) through purely vegetarian means.

    I mean no meat, fish, or eggs. Milk and honey are allowed, though.

    I want to get baking up in a completely role-playing manner; this is why I want to do it this way.

    I try to role-play in every way possible, but anyway, is it possible? If so how would I go about doing it?

    (Lets not turn this into a discussion about vegetarianism, and keep it role-play oriented please)

    No, all the > or near 250 recipes need at least 1 meat or some form of egg.

      cheesey vegetables casserole requires noodles, cheese (is this allowed), and plant shoots. to finish to 250. noodles require eggs though. pinemeyer noodles can get you to 191 like patty melts without meat but uses eggs.

      fruit and 3 frosting will make marmalade to 99 and marmaldade and loaf of bread make marmalade sandwiches to 99. jumjum salad uses veggies, jumjum stalk, lettuce and fennel to 142. fennel is pricey though so try and find something else. lucky cabbage to 182 but blessed dust will be expensive. pixie powdered cinamon sticks will get you to 202 but not sure if pixie powder is against vegetarian. obad ha truffles could also get you to 202. lotus pie will get you to 236 but uses clump of dough which uses eggs also.

      i just dont think there is a way to do it without eggs. mtp is out because of brownie parts. loaf of bread is vendor bought but uses eggs to make it. justice fruit pie to 250 but takes clump of dough too.

      edit can you use just foraged eggs? they were left to die anyway so nothing killed to get them?

        Oh, I forgot... can't use rennet, so any type of cheese that has that can't be used. I'm starting from no skill by the way, and I'd only find interest in the trade if I could do it with these boundaries. Sure, it's more difficult because of how limited the recipes given by Verant/SoE are, but I want to be able to say that you can, and that I've done it.

        Part of the whole role-playing of it is that my character is a monk. Monks are vegetarian to this extent, even excluding eggs from their diet... especially eastern monks (Buddhist/Hindu).

        Now... why does EQ bread take egg? In real life it doesn't...

        I'd be happy with whatever the highest skill level I can get under these circumstances, it doesn't matter if it's not 200 or 250, I just want to see how far I can go with this.

          You can get to 202 on pixie powdered cinnesticks.

          Thats it I think.

            Wouldn't pixie dust be like meat from a pixie? You have to kill pixies to get it ....

              Looks like as a pesco-ovo vegetarian, you're problaby limited to 202 with ohabah truffles.

              Eggs are going to be the sticking point, as every non-meat/parts recipe over 202 uses noodles or clumps of dough.

              Good luck in your rather unique and interesting quest

                Ok, so it looks like truffles is going to be the route.

                Darn them and their unrealistic recipies! Not all dough has egg, and most noodles don't either!

                  How are you doing?

                  Hello Yieu,

                  I have no advice to offer you on this, just a request.

                  Can you please come back and post information on how you are progressing in this?

                  I'm curious as to how you are making out. I don't really understand your stance on the meat issue, but I can, and DO, respect it.

                    all rp purposes. her monk wants to bake without breaking the monk's religous code of not harming animals. they have to eat something so honor plant spirits and dive in i think.

                      How about this...

                      Dressing --> 54
                      Vegetable Soup --> 68
                      Royal Mints --> 76
                      Apricot Marmalade --> 99
                      Dried Seaweed --> 135
                      Lucky Cabbage --> 182
                      Ohabah Truffles --> 202
                      Holy Cake ( only if willing to use foraged eggs ) --> 242

                      Kind of expensive and time consuming ( if you have a foraging char also to collect ingrediants ) way, but you can get pretty high anyways!

                        i brought up the foraged eggs comment. justice fruit pie to 250 if she could use eggs. think 202 will be the stopping point though. yieu didn't want to use eggs at all.

                            Re: Vegetarian skill ups

                            Here's what I came up with:

                            Dressing to 54
                            Vegetable Oil, Vinegar in Mixing Bowl

                            Vegetable Soup to 68
                            Jug of Sauces, Pot, Vegetables, Water Flask

                            Royal Mints to 76
                            Eucalyptus Leaf, Frosting

                            Cream to 83
                            Benzoin, 2 Bottle of Milk, Dairy Spoon in Mixing Bowl

                            Apricot Marmalade to 99
                            3 Frosting, Fruit in Mixing Bowl

                            Thick Lotus Paste to 101-126
                            Allspice, Cream, Cup of Flour, any Lotus part (from Deep Cavern Lotus in FG)

                            Cheesy Potato Soup to 135
                            Cheese, Jug of Sauces, Pot, Rujarkian Potato, Water Flask

                            Dried Seaweed to 135
                            Bay Seaweed, Smoker, Spices

                            Dark Chocolate Creme to 138
                            Brown Algae, Cream, Eucalyptus Leaf, Frosting

                            Jumjum Salad to 142
                            Fennel, Jumjum Stalk, Lettuce, Vegetables

                            Lucky Cabbage to 182
                            Blessed Dust of Karana, Wild Cabbage (foraged in NK)

                            Ohabah Truffles to 202
                            Dark Chocolate Creme, Frosting, Mushroom

                            Unfortunately you won't be able to get past 202 realistically. The only 250 recipe available to you would be the Grandmaster Baker's Spoon... The thing is expensive just for one attempt, so isn't something that you would really want to do for skill ups.

                              Yes, definately a tough one.

                              With no eggs (foraged or dropped), or cheese, prolly the best method is making some of the Misty Thicket Picnic stuff and resell em to people skilling up to 250 on picnics.

                              From Crydees list:
                              Train to 20 (at your monk trainer)
                              Veggie soup to 68
                              Royal Mints to 76 (all store bought)
                              Apricot Marmalade to 99
                              Dark Chocolate Creme to 138 (save these to make truffles)
                              Jumjum salad to 142
                              Ohaba truffles to 202

                              Resell the mints, marmalade and salad in the bazaar, keep the soup and truffles for you and your friends.

                              Start now asking all your ranger/druid/bard friends to save their fruit/veggie/mushroom forages (i doubt a role-playing human monk (im assuming human with a name like Yieu) would have any iksar friends).

                              Good luck.
