Pre-PoK, maybe, but have you tried them in PoK? There, I did three stacks at a time in about 15-20 minutes, and got about 10 skill gains every 2 hour session, including breaks I took in between combines to relax. In a few days I powered straight to 250 faster than I ever could using the Jaggedpine recipes, and made some easy platinum while doing it.

i am just now lv 44. pop stuff isn't an option to get for myself. the foraged stuff is expensive in the bazaar. 1 stack of stuff for the run of 200 mtps isn't bad with the yeild 10 on so much of it. takes about 200pp in alchemy components a run though. less if i can get the woven mandrake off a vendor instead of weaving my own. i buy all the veggies less than 1pp in the bazaar and a few fruit go a long way. really its not that bad it just gets tedious after the first 100 combines. bet i have done over 1000 combines just on mtps now.

and i'm doing brewing, fletching, and maybe smithing to 200 before i get to 45 unless a bud wants me to show up. doubt i'll make smithing but fletching and brewing are fine.

did another 200 picnics last night. got 2 skillups in the first 9 stacks. was about to be but then got 2 more in the last stack. was kinda hoping now that i was 238 it would take me to 250 easy or at least 245. stopped at 242. just need the pp for my first trohpy try and to borrow a geerlock now.

2334 combines from 200 to 250, on a wide variety of foods but
mostly picnics. and 5 failed stabs at the spoon too, finally got it on attempt #6.

200 combines from 233 - 234 skill. 200 combines from 243 - 244 skill. 152 combines to get through 244! then there were 3 skill ups in one stack of picnics, from 246 to 249. so it all averages out to over 46 combines per point.

mostly at 255 wisdom, mostly with geerlok. never below 236 wis (and early on, i got more skill bumps without the wis gear than with it!) hm.... yes, i kept track of all that stuff.

In my "skill book" i have listed my skill, wisdom, what i made, successes / attempts (usually a stack at a time), and how many skill points i got during that (stack). And quite a lot of data on post-250 combines like hero sandwiches. I started keeping track at 201 skill on 24 June 2002 and hit 250 skill on 22 October 2002. At 4:15 am If i get really bored i'll type in actual data. Don't think i'll be gettin that bored, though.

I've done Halas 10lb meat pies 203-216, and Misty Thicket Picnics to 221. The HMP had about twice the skillup (18.7 attempts/skill up) rate of the MTP (37.5). However, since I have more than stack of brownie parts, and a forage mule with bags of fruit, and veggies, I'll probably stick with MTP. Start to finish, I can make a stack of MTP much faster than a stack of HMP.

The best advice I have is to think ahead. If you need to go farm tradeskill stuff, it can be very boring, and not very productive. On the other hand, if you plan ahead, and grind XP/AAxp in areas that drop trade skill items, then those items are virtually free.

              Heh, I remember this thread.

My druid is Grinding through MTP's right now as well. Got to 233 last night, and will be posting his data as soon as he gets to 250.

                mtp

Jaggedpine is the way to go, I could count on getting a skill up at least 1 time out of 20 combines post 200. The amount of subcombines, and an 8 item combine in general on MTP killed me. I had a horrible time with them. Did 100 combines and got 188-195, then went another 200 combines and didnt get a skill up. Decided it was time for a change.

And btw, it's easier to get there than to rivervale.

Can't get eggs, veggies, fruit, or brownie parts in SH, but the bazaar is only one zone away, and you CAN get them there.

                    Good luck!

Justice Fruit all the way. Forage the eggs and fruit, buy the CE, and buy the frosting/muffin tin. Went from 222 (PoW Fish Trivial point) to 241 with Justice Fruit with 30 stacks of the Justice Fruit Pies banked. Well worth the forage'n if ya got a druid/ranger handy.

I don't do MTP until I max out my skill doing Halas 10lb Meat Pies, because in my experience you gain more skill ups with them, because they are closer to your skill level in trivial. (MTP = 335).

The pies are looking like a good path, but I'll have to disagree with how to get the ingredients.

Assuming someone is over 46 and can forage, even.

CE's are a no-fail combine where the 2 ingredients are 1 vendor apart in PoK.

Assuming the cost and time it takes to make 40 CEs (for 20 combines). Compare that to the 150-400PP per stack they sell at in the bazaar.

Now justice fruits, how long would it take you to forage a stack of those evern with a high level druid, people on KB buy these things up at 10-15PP each.

Eggs? Just go to LavaStorm and kill basilisks.

Weighing out the options and time, it seems (to me) that it's more feasable to make the CEs (esp with the new UI), since anyone can make them and it's a no-fail combine, and buy the fruits. You can easily get 10-15 eggs in Lava with fast hunting in less than an hour (and make the CEs in downtime!).

                              Skill from 205 to 231.

Spent roughly 900PP on ingredients, mostly on the merchant bought ones.

Over 600 picnics made, take out 100 for guild, friends etc..

                              500 left.

Sell them at 10 PP each, that's 5K made.
Sell them at 15 PP each, that's 7.5K made.
Sell them ay 7.5PP each, that's about 3.7K made.
Some people sell them as low as 5PP each, that's 2.5K.

I'd have to sell them below 2PP each to "lose" money (and by then I'll just donate them all to the guild).

Just imagine how much trader in the KB Bazaar who's selling over 600 for 40PP each is making. (Yes, that would be 20K made, minus what he spent, probabaly 1.5K-2K at most if it was all bought.
