im using my cleric (fishing 200) to get fish to skillup baking to 215.

without her clicker (25 wis), her wis is 200 (i switched out her wis gear for mana gear since with kei her wis is maxed)....

a highlevel friend came out to help me fish, his wis 275.... he got TWICE as much named fish as i did.

he got 56 fish in less then an hour

so wisdom and fishing named fish are definately related. i did a quick search and didnt see this posted anywhere, but i figured id pass the news on.

1 skillup / 44 combines
(or) 5 skillups in 220 combines
192-196

after getting her some wis gear...
my rogue with wis of 213
1 skillup / 8 combines
(or) 6 skillups in 50 combines
197-202

overall average
1 skillup / 27 combines


i wonder if different recipes are harder to skillup then others.


anyway, i am upping my clerics wis gear and getting kei. if i get 50 fish an hour, after a few hours, i should have basically free skillups until 215.

one more thing...
i think different areas of a zone have different likelihood of fishing named fish. in PoS i have the best luck fishing for storm salmon at the waterfall (stand on the waterfall or face the waterfall)....

as we all know salmon swim up stream and waterfalls to mate.... think sony did this on purpose??

Well thanks for all the info I have to get my wisdom up didn't know it was that imported for skill ups but the numbers don't lie.. I did around 100 combines and only got 2 or 3 skill ups with 150 or a little less and that's a little less then I was hoping that was at around 160 skills. Going to work on that wisdom before I do any more traidskills.

1 skillup / 20 combines
(or) 9 skillups in 180 combines

In all honesty, i dont see why folks dont skill up more using fishing. the combines are almost free, you can set up:

a macro to fish
/pause
/autoinventory

read/watch tv AND it appears to me that the skillups are QUICK

the quest to get the summoned fishing poles is extremely easy, you can usually find the fish in the bazaar. if only they had a thing to summon bait

PoW Fishin!

Spent roughly 3 hours fishing in plane of water. *invisible ofcourse*

Netted 40 Giant Snapper and 37 Giant Halibut.

Combining 1 fish and 1 jug of sauce *202 trivial* was heavenly....my poor clicker hand has been a hurtin lately. Anyhow, I went from 191-198 on these 77 combines. Seems like a decent run to me when you take into consideration how much trouble you go through making MTPs and HMPs.

are you sure the triv is 202? on the recipe page it says 208; and yes... powater + invis + fisherman's companion + the macro listed above = the shiz... although it's still quite easy for me to swarm the hobgoblins in pon and get some xp some gobby meat some tainted planar essence (for pottery) and a bunch of cash items... i've been going back n forth between these two lately.
