  • Misty Picnics and skilling up.

The past couple days I've been spending quite some time focusing on my baking skill. Currently I'm at 212 skill, I have a wisdom of 290 and am not using Geerlok.

Both of my baking sessions were 100 combines of the Misty Thicket Picnics.

1st session gave me 5 successful combines and 1 skill up.

2nd session gave me 3 successful combines and 4 skill ups.

I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing low numbers like this particularly the 1 skill up session.. Or does the RNG hate me?

      MTP skill-ups

Your skill-up rate isn't unusual. I did MTPs exclusivley from 209 to 250 and averaged 33.25 combines per skill up with 280 WIS. Took anywhere from 1 to 165 combines to get a skill up. Just keep plugging away at it.

My skillup data from 203-250 is listed below. I first did ohabah truffles from 191-202, then did buttered crawdads from 202-203. Then I skilled up using a combination of halas meat pies, griffon/anaconda melts, hobgoblin surprises, and misty thicket picnics. You'll notice that on one of my MTP runs, 200 combines yielded only 4 skillups. WIS was 255, and I used a geerlok.

          Code:
            117 HMP - 9 skillups (203-212) 1 per 13.00 combines
            253 HMP - 13 skillups (212-225) 1 per 19.46 combines
             48 GM - 2 skillups (225-227) 1 per 24.00 combines
            200 MTP - 6 skillups (227-233) 1 per 33.33 combines (made 312/800 picnics)
            200 MTP - 4 skillups (233-237) 1 per 50.00 combines (made 356/800 picnics)
             25 GM - 0 skillups (237-237)
              5 AM - 0 skillups (237-237)
            200 MTP - 9 skillups (237-246) 1 per 22.22 combines (made 432/800 picnics)
             13 HS - 1 skillup (246-247) 1 per 13.00 combines
          < 200 MTP - 3 skillups (247-250) max 250 in middle of run (made 484/800 picnics)

I also skilled up exclusively on MTPs from 202 - 250. I averaged 3 skill ups per 100 combines. Some sessions, I skilled up as many as 6 times, others only once. But I always skilled up.

My wisdom was maxed out at 255 with gear, but always had a C3 working too. Plus geerlok. Used my lucky oven in Rivervale.

GM'd and trophied now - and making a heck of a lot of pp selling my picnics in the bazaar.

              C3

I see people mention a C3 from time to tme. What is this? My skill is wisdom 191 and I am getting 1-2 skill ups per hundred on HMP

                  Sounds about right

With MTP I average 1 skill-up per 50 combines; only 2000 more combines to go! (or thereabouts)...not incl sub-combines

I have been using MTP as my skill up path from 212 upwards - so far I have made skill 241 with between 2 and 4 skill ups per 100 combines.

To add a little flavour to the baking - as and when I find Jord meat / Hobgoblin meat / Vann toes etc I make relative recipies to use the aquired meat up.

                    Good luck to all !

I skilled up on picnics exclusively post 215ish, and did them in sets of 100 to keep ingredients mostly equal. I don't think I ever managed more than 5 skillups per 100, and there were several sets when I received none. Most of the time, I was able to average about 3 points per set.

Yes, picnics have several subcombines, but overall, they are the most cost-effective way to skill up in quantity.

Bakings isn't easy. It may not be as difficult as some other tradeskills, but it takes a lot of time and energy, and thousands upon thousands of click to obtain GM skill. Just stay with it, and sooner or later you will max out.
