  • My 10lb Halas Meat Pie How-To

    Step 1.
    Making Cream. You need:
    a dairy spoon
    8 Bottles of milk
    4 Benzoin
Combine 2 Bottles of Milk with Each Benzoin for 27 Cream and some
Surpluss left over. Use surpluss next time so YOu don't have to buy
    so much stuff next time.

    Step 2.
Making Creamy Fennel Sauce. You need:
    27 Fennel
    27 Cups of flour
    27 cream
Combine 1 of each in mixing bowl for 160 Creamy Fennel Sauce and some
    Surpluss left over.

    Step 3.
    Making Fillets. You Need:
    a filleting knife
    4 Mammoth Meat
    4 Wolf Meat
    40 Lion Meat
    40 Wolf Meat
Combine each piece of meat one at a time for 40 fillets of each. I
suggest working near a butcher so you can buy the stray failure of
lion and bear. If I fail at Mammoth or Wolf I have a stack of fillets
standing buy in the bank to replace those with.

    Step 4.
    Making Creamy Fillets. You Need:
    40 filleted Mammoth
    40 filleted Wolf
    40 filleted Bear
    40 Filleted Lion
    160 Creamy Fennel Sauce
Combine each fillet one at a time with creamy fennel sauce for 40 of
each fillet in cream. Use surplus and the butch to make up for any
failures. It's at this point that I start breaking the items into
separate pouches for final combine. 20 of each fillet in cream goes
into my my 8-slot containers. obviously my recipe is going to provide
two 8-slot containers whith 20 final combines each.

    Step 5.
making Clumps of dough. You need to figure out how your going to get
80 clumps of dough. I suggest 6 basilisk eggs, but you can do whatever
you want. 80 snake eggs works just remeber you need 1 egg, 1 cup of flour
and 1 bottle of milk for each combine. Good luck in however your choose
    to ge there.

    Step 6.
Buy 40 sage leafs and put 20 in each 8-slot container.

    Step 7.
The Final Combine. By now you should have two 8-slot containers with
    seven slots each filled with:
    1.slot: 20 Sage Leaf
2.slot: 20 Mammoth Fillet in Cream
3.slot: 20 Wolf Fillet in Cream
4.slot: 20 Bear fillet in Cream
5.slot: 20 Lion fillet in Cream
    6.slot: 20 Clumps of Dough
    7.slot: 20 Clumps of Dough

Grab your Pie Tin and Ralic Pack (or something with 10 giant slots) and
head to your local oven. Your ready for 40 attempts at a skill up. If you
have no failures you will ahve 12 stacks or 240 halas pies. Sell them if
you want but I like to give at least some of them away.

Summary: Here is my shopping list for 40 combines (2 stacks).
    14 bottles of milk
    4 Benzoin
    27 Fennel
    33 Cups of flour
    4 Mammoth Meat
    4 Wolf Meat
    40 Lion Meat
    40 Wolf Meat
    40 Sage Leaf
    6 basilisk egg
    Ongoing supplies are:
    A Spit
    A Dairy Spoon
    A filleting knife
    A Mixing Bowl
Two Eight Slot Containers (sewing kit, fletching kit)
one 10 slot giant container (mines a rallic pack)

I want to take a moment to let everyone here know how much I love my wife and
dedicate this post to her. She has put up with me spending hours at a time
tradeskilling. My baking skill is over 200, but what makes me happy is that
I am married to a beautiful loving and devoted wife. Now I have to go because
she wants her turn to play Everquest... Signed Paul

Paul, if your wife truelly loves you and she's an expert on baking, then she'd never let you skill up on HMPs - they take four times more combines, two times the cost, ten times the farming and only sell for a fifth as much as MTPs on average.

So all said, you're doing 40x more work for only 10% of the reward then if you'd done MTPs instead.

Otherwise, wonderfully thorough post on this most hellish of recipes.

I appreciate posts like this. For the organizationally challenged like myself, having a walk-through is very helpful.

After 1200 MTP combines I can't honestly say that I've developed a consistent method. It's a little different every time.

A most excellent, logical, and comprehensive guide. Perhaps you should put it in the Guides forum?

Nice post, very informative. And I second what Cigar said about HMP's, at 200 (or after truffles/whatever) switch to MTP's. After reading some nicely laid out posts like yours they convinced me.

HMPs are a better option if you care more about making a profit while skilling up. MTPs combines are more likely to fail.

I'm at 199 skill (haven't updated my sig in a while, and I haven't played EQ in about 3 weeks - too busy), and I'm doing Ohabah Truffles until they trivial, Griffon Melts when I can get hold of the meat, and HMPs strictly for profit, since skill-ups doing those are few and far between.

I once did a stack of MTP combines, after I found a stack of Picnic Baskets on a vendor. No successes OR skill-ups.

ROTFLMAO - yes, and we all know that doing a massive 20 combines is more than enough of a test sample to determine whether or not something is working or worth doing - the fact that you were in the baking hell levels of course also had nothing what-so-ever to do with the fact that those massive 20 combines didn't give you a skill up.

Great guide until you realize you only have 39 mammoth meats because you failed a trivial combine.

Just fillet your self another piece and save the rest for next time your one short....

I do these because i had 1 success in 60 combines of mtp and even on a good day can't make that pay for itself. With HTP I can sell them for as little as 1p each and still they pay for themselves. I make 40 combines and give stacks away at a time and still have made a profit. I am going to trivial in these before I give them up... even it they are tedious.

                    Thread on spreadsheets

                    which links to

                    Site with spreadsheets

I believe (didn't double check) that these sites / sheets show pretty much exactly what to get, what to make, how to make it, etc.

                    Nice writeup though.
