Already planning for Christmas

Well, I have always wanted there to be a use for Ro Dates so I finally sent in my idea for a Fruit Cake.

Fruit Cake
1 Clump of Dough
1 Candied Cherries
1 Candied Fruit
1 Candied Dates
1 Caynar Nuts (or Heartfruit Walnut)
1 Frosting or Sugar
1 Bread Tin

The Candied items would be made the same way the Candied Cockroaches are almost. 1 Marr Cherries/Fruit(Justice Fruit?)/Ro Dates + Sugar + Water in an oven/spit/etc. Or maybe make it exactly like Candied Cockroaches where it takes 4 of each item + Sugar + Water in an oven/spit/etc and yields 4 Candied ______.

My personal preference for the Fruit and Nuts would be run of the mill Fruit and Caynar Nuts for the simple fact I wouldn't want this recipe to be restricted to only those who are HoHB flagged. Kinda kills the reason I'd like to see this implemented (as a fun for the holidays recipe not some uber stat food). I'd also rather have sugar as the sweetener than frosting seeing I have never seen a Fruit Cake have frosting.

Have it yield either 1-2 cakes that can be cut into 10 slices per cake or 10 cakes.

Hrmm, now that I look at the recipe it should probably also have some spices in there. Is there ginger in the game at all? Maybe have candied ginger as well. /shrug

Anyhow, I've /feedback'd this recipe. What do you all think? What other "holiday" recipes would you like to see introduced? What would you put in those recipes?

ROFL Yeah, I had thought about having the recipe take 2 clumps of dough to make it weigh more actually but I figured the Dev team, if they decided to go with the recipe could/would make any changes they saw fit to make it "traditional". LOL

OH YEAH! I'd want it to have the summoned bread graphic too! I know Fruit Cake isn't necessarily black but nothing player made uses that item graphic yet (only summoned) so I would like to see it get used more.

You know, being American and living in the hell hole known as Tex-ass my entire life (and hardly ever been out of it ) I have never had plum pudding. Anyone have a RL recipe we could try and convert?


I just thought of a way we could do custard and maybe even a meringue(sp?) pie. OH! A Boston Cream Pie maybe? Except call it a Rivervale Cream Pie Delite! /shrug Ya'll come up with a name. lol

First we'd have to split the eggs:
1 Egg (diferent kinds would have different yields)
Small Bowl x2 (OH YEAH BABAY! find some uses for those unused odds and ends items)
In a Mixing bowl/collapsible mixing bowl

Yield: (for a snake egg) 1 egg white and 1 egg yolk

Meringue(sp?):
2 Egg White
1 Sugar
Medium Bowl (more uses for those odds and ends!)
In a Mixing Bowl/Collapsible Mixing Bowl

Yield: 1 Bowl of Meringue

Custard:
3 Egg Yolks
1 Sugar
1 Cream
Medium Bowl
In an Oven/Collapsible Spit/Spit/etc

Yield: 1 Bowl of Custard

Rivervale Cream Pie Delite (or whatever a cooler name could be):
1 Clump of Dough
1 Dark Chocolate Creme (or maybe just some Winter Chocolate)
1 Bowl of Meringue
1 Bowl of Custard
1 Pie Tin
In an Oven/Spit/etc

Yield: 1-2 pies


How about some Hot Chocolate?

Hot Chocolate:
1 Winter Chocolate
1 Cream
1 Milk
1 Sugar
1 Cinnamon Stick
In an Oven/Spit etc

This post made me chuckle several times, and the faction hits comment made me ~LOL~. It reminded me of the days I would play The Sims (which has a fruit cake with similar effects). I would choose the graphic of Disease Infested Rat Liver, personally.

Here is a plum pudding recipe I found. I've never made it, so don't trust me. I looked at about 6 recipes, and none used plums, so I have no idea where the name comes from

1/2 lb. Stale Bread Crumbs
1 cup Scalded Milk
1/4 lb. Sugar
4 Eggs
1/2 lb. Raisins, seeded, cut in pieces, and floured
1/4 lb. Currants
1/4 lb. Finely Chopped Figs
2 oz. Finely Cut Citron
1/2 lb. Suet
1/4 cup Wine and Brandy mixed
1/2 Grated Nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/3 teaspoon Clove
1/3 teaspoon Mace

Soak bread crumbs in milk, let stand until cool, add sugar, beaten yolks of eggs, raisins, currants, figs, and citron; chop suet, and cream by using the hand; combine mixtures, then add wine, brandy, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, mace, and whites of eggs beaten stiff. Turn into buttered mould, cover, and steam six hours.

1 Surefall Sap (they either need to make this stuff foragable in more zones - like Surefall itself would be a start - or up the forage rate because as it is even without this recipe it has too many uses)

My British friends tell me that US attitude toward fruit cake baffles them. One, in particular, has fond memories of getting for his birthday cake every year.
