  • Negative stats on stat potions removed on test!!!

Just saw this over at the crucible,

    http://forums.interealms.com/shaman/...&threadid=8604

its seems the stat potions have had their negative stat effects removed on test server. Lucy backs this up:
    potion of vigor
    potion of stability

there are the other stat potions listed too, but this gives the basic idea they are removing the negative effects from the stat potions.

      Great, maybe

The negative stat penalty was a pain, but not the real problem. The problem was the cost in making them. What good is a potion that is still to expensive to sell?

While cost has always been a factor in alchemy, the biggest problem, IMNSHO, is that PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THESE POTIONS ARE FOR!!!

It's a matter of education. As a GM brewer, I've seen brewers hawke their wares in the bazaar, letting people know what their miraculous drinks do. And people are willing to pay the 20-50 pp for *one* drink. Albeit that the cost of brewing is cheaper than alchemy, but that is *not* my point. My point is that, IME, people are willing to pay if they know what they are buying.

I've hawked my potions in the bazaar too, and often I get questions like "What does Greater Vigor do?" etc. I answer these folks, and guess what? 9 out of 10 BUY the potion in question...and keep coming back for more. Now, with the negative stats removed, it gives my customers more incentive to buy these potions.

In addition to the traditional Ants and SoW potions, I've been keeping and selling readily stock on other types of potions, like G. Vigor and G. Power.

My suggestion for Verant on this? When people click on a potion in the bazaar list, LIST THE STATS OF THE POTION! Just like they do Drinks!!!! This would go a LOOOONGGG way in helping to educate people in what alchemy could do for them.

People will buy. They just need to know what they are buying.

I've found that, since the patch, potions are really not selling any better.

I think part of the problem is, like Mafdet said, people don't know what the heck the potions do.

I admit, I'm a nightowl trader (aka I log in and go to bed) so I'm probably hurting myself, by selling potions no-one knows the effects of.

I think the stats of the potion, again, referring back to Mafdet's post, should be right click viewable.

Stat foods/drinks have the stats listed. Now, this may not be the exact same case, but if you look at it from a RP stand point (which is what the games is after all! ), why are you getting the stats off the food/drink? Because you are ingesting it... what do you do with a potion? Ingest it!

Fairly reasonable request if you ask me.

            Good show Mafdet!

In addition to educating people about the potion stats, it's also crucial to educate them about how the potions stack with other buffs.

I am a bard, but when my husband quit EQ, I acquired his 60 shaman. He maxxed his alchemy skill before leaving and I've been loving many of the potions he can make. However, I'm still a little confused about how they stack with: (1) bard songs, (2) right-click effects, (3) shaman buffs, and (4) other class's buffs.

I'll be making and testing a lot of these potions as my back account allows. You guys are right - they sure are expensive!

On the good side though, I can always sell Blood of Wolf and Ant potions on my trader to make a few pp. I've also found a market for the gate potions, since the higher-end raiding guilds on my server require all members to be able to gate themselves. The market isn't huge because they are all working toward the OT gate hammer or the PoK gate necklace, but it is there nonetheless.

What other potions have you found that sell well?

With the news of the negative stats being removed on most potions, I had a friend ask for prices on Ants Potion, Blood of the Wolf, Kilva's Skin of Flame, Gnomish Boils and Titan. I'm going to have to make a trip to Shar Vahl to price the Gnomish Boils for him, now I just wish other people would take the time to do research since Verant isn't listing the stat information for people.

Lanadena, just an FYI, there is a prices page for alchemy. It lists all the recipes in trivial order (where known) along with the total cost of the herbs required. There is also a separate list of the individual herb prices.

Along those when you do go to Shar Vahl to buy herbs, remember that you want the vendor named Mydi Darjik at -254, -389. She wanders around the shop and you'll have to wait till she's in the back right corner before she'll sell to you, but she gives much better prices than any of the others.

All I can say is I AGREE -laughs-

I agree with the high prices and I agree that the stats need to be listed...what can we do about this?

How did the negative stats finally get removed? Did enough people send in feedback? I think I've sent in feedback on this already but I'm willing to do it again and even willing to become a pain in the butt over it if it will help.

                      Err,nope. I disagree.

You think that people will buy them simply after learning what they do? Nope.

In EQ its the other way around. If its worth buying, people learn about it. FBSS anyone? No one knows about the potions because they look at the effect, then look at the price, add 1+1 together and see that it isn't worth it. Then they never look back.

Thank you for the list, Verdandi. I must have overlooked it. When it's not so late I can compare the prices I had in mind to what is on the list.
