  • Question about gaining alchemy skill...

After reading different entries and a beginners guide to alchemy it is my understanding that after getting the alchemy skill at 25, you can only gain 5 skillups per lvl? So at lvl 60 you can only have a max skill of 180? (with a cap of 200)

I just wanted to verify this because no other tradeskill is restricted in this fashion that I know of. Tinkering and poisenmaking I didn't find any entries that say they are lvl restricted to gaining skill (besides lvl you need to first train the skill in poisenmaking or lvl restriction on getting tinkering above 50 if your a gnome) in the getting started guides on the main eqtraders site..If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

Tinkering is restricted to being level 16 and a Gnome to start. You start with a base skill of 50 and at level 16 you can go all the way up to 250 skill if you have the time/PP/stuff.

Posion Making is restricted to Rouges only and they can't start the skill till level 20. The skill starts at 0 and can be raised only 5 points per level till you reach 200. After you are above level 50 you can raise it again to 250 skill.

Alchemy you have to be a shaman who is above level 25. And as you said, it's your level - 24 * 5 = skill cap until you reach level 200 (Level 64)

So the two class based skills are level based for both starting and continuing. I know, it sucks.

BTW--until recently, there weren't any potions with trivials above 180, so it really didn't matter that you couldn't skill up above that point. And frankly, very few shaman even skilled up to there, because none of the hardest potions were remotely marketable, given the cost to make them.

        but to answer your question-

So at lvl 60 you can only have a max skill of 180? (with a cap of 200)
No, somewhere in there, i think at lvl 25 or 26, the formula starts. At 61 i am capped at 180. You reach 200 at 65. So 5 skill pnt lvls per lvl after lvl 60 (175 skill). Someone help me out here.

True, but now GATE POTIONS are very steady sellers at 300pp, steady lil profit too.

Actually, at level 61, you are capped at 185. Prior to PoP, when 60 was the maximum level, we were capped at 180 alchemy skill. Now, the cap is 200 (hard cap) at level 64. You cannot go above 200 as I understand it, I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I am certain about the cap up to level 62 so far.

          Level 60 - 180
          Level 61 - 185
          Level 62 - 190 (That's where I am now)
          Level 63 - 195
          Level 64 - 200
          Level 65 - 200 (should be 205, but I believe there is a hard cap at 200)
