I haven't seen anybody else post here but a friend that I sold some bp gate potions to told me that they can do the "your gate was too unstable and collapsed" just like the store bought one.

Yes it can, I made some for friends and he was left behind to die as I THOUGHT he gated, but alas his was unstable.
