  • WHY no stackable invis potion?

Invis potion was the first recipe I looked for after mastering alchemy and, since LoY, easily the one guildies ask me about most. Even more than illusion potions. I know about the "never, ever" comment attributed to SOE from my first searches, but I just can't figure out WHY they regard this to be so unbalancing...

Maybe 'cause Cloudy Potions are insta-cast? (But certainly no more unbalancing than a pre-nerf CoS, or insta-invis AA ability like ranger innate camo, right?) More importantly, the shammy-crafted version does not need to be insta-cast to be quite useful, IMHO. If there's another exploit with non-instant invis I haven't come across it yet. After all, a majority of classes can invis themselves already.

Meanwhile -- for classes that can't invis themselves (eg your warror or cleric) -- LoY is prohibitive. It takes at least one invis -- often more -- to get to regular xp camps in all LoY zones. Guess wrong on the number of potions to schlep and it's cr time =( IMO stackable invis is in exactly the same league as stackable sow potions -- a buff that peeps can beg for and usually get, or prepay and have in their pack when they need it.

My suggestion (plea! really -- I'm so tired of XP groups in LoY getting derailed because the warr/cleric died or had to gate when they couldn't re-invis in the long tunnel of nasty greenies) is to make an alchemy recipe for inviso potions that is stackable. Doesn't have to be insta-cast (cast time equiv to invis spells is ok), can even be level constrained to 25+ if ya want, but should be reasonably priced. Time to cut the warriors and clerics a break in LoY...

The latter is ranger-only, and I believe only against animals. The former...well, first off, you had to be a Necromancer or Shadowknight to use it, and second off, why do you think it was nerfed <img src=http://www.boomspeed.com/sinuuyanea/dcpuzzle.gif alt="Because it was snazzy?">

nah, innate camo works just like invis, and Im pretty sure druids get it as an AA also.

Yes, Druids and Rangers get Insta-Camo.

        Anywhere, anytime.

Against everything but Undead, I assume.

Unfortunately a great majority of undead mobs (most post kunark) are bugged so they will not see through regular invis.

Its kinda sad that all these undead without eyeballs are fooled with regular invis.

But luckily as a cleric i have the best cleric item in Vex Thall. The Cloudy Steel Mask (unlimited 15.0 casting time invis)

Hmmm I can just see us coaxing our clerics and warriors to shell out for one of these, a collapseable toolbox and a stack of batteries -- then holding a clinic to show em how to use it. Not to disparage clerics/warriors at all, but at least in my guild 'gadgets' is not their strong suit. =p

I am suggesting a 10-shot, 15-second cast invis potion because everyone already 'gets' it. 200pp investment to the user and no moving parts. Perfect for the non-professional inviser (puller is probably motivated to have more inviso option) who is just trying to travel through the less friendly parts of the world to an xp camp.

It's the right thing to do, imo. Just reduces the "Time to Fun" lag in the same way the PoP books did.
