this is all arguementive, but i spend alot of plat on potions making the "clarity" in a bottle and i like the fact i can have the option to increse my chance at making them. Any of the increase in stats is useless in my book...thats what items are for! and AA xp is realitively easy and i have already spent 20+ k on tries for this throphy, so yes its worth putting points into AM if it nets me what i want. hope that explains why i asked the question in the first place.
As far as the item goes its called a philospher's stone and it grants 10% to alchemy, it drops in griegs end ( a wierd zone-- if you have ever fought thier you know what i mean) the mob (Alchemist Valrona) popped in random locations and doesnt always drop the stone, i have yet to get my hand on one, so far i have killed her three times with no luck, but take 2 solid groups or a high lvl group to fight in this zone without casualties.

Speaking as someone that feels Valrona is the BANE of his existence...
Thank the gods the new GM trophy is in game and this AA is an option.
I enjoy tradeskills for the tradeskill, not the money (you'd have to be nuts to think you'd make money off high-end Alchemy) and I really get tired of seing folks belittle people for wanting to continue to advance in a skill they enjoy.
Not your chosen profession? Good for you. One less alchemist I have to compete with to sell off the wares I actually enjoy making, but don't tell me how you can never understand how I choose waste my time on something I enjoy while YOU so obviously are bored with it.

Oddly enough, I didn't say that alchemy was useless, I said alchemy MASTERY is useless.
180 + philosopher's stone is 198 effective skill. That puts basically any potion that you might want to make in the 5% minimum failure category. The only time I ever see people getting alchemy mastery is the first level, so they can get their Elder title quickly.
The benefit provided (unlike with jewelcraft mastery) is simply not there.

Shamans have charisma buffs makes it all the more ironic that innate charisma is more useful than alchemy mastery, doesn't it?
As for mystical apptitude...leaving aside that those potions are complete garbage and not worth making in the first place; 180+philosopher's stone I went 5 for 5 on them, just to say that I made it. Not exactly an earth shattering fail rate.
I must admit to being more than a little curious about why you are so interested in these potions. For less money than a single dose, any newbie can go to the nexus or the bazaar and buy a KEI which provides 7x the mana regen, and 10x (or more) the duration. That completely eliminates any market to other people....2-3 mana/tick is inconsequential for a shaman with Cannibalization (and if you are thinking of getting alchemy mastery before you have Canni5, you need your head examined), so that eliminates using the potions yourself.
Why do you make them?

Some people aren't in for the money, or to be "uber". Some people like to do it because it's something different and *gasp* fun to do.Originally posted by Shaman ArrianaShamans have charisma buffs makes it all the more ironic that innate charisma is more useful than alchemy mastery, doesn't it?

ok i guess i have to explain further why i make mystical apptitude potions : I use them for after i die! they are great to get your mana back when you have just been rezzed, they are great to give to guildies, they stack with other types of mana regen, oh and not everyone can make a jump to the nexus or bazaar, anyway back to our original topic before we started splitting hairs!!!!!!!!--- i finally ganked the alchemist and looted her stone! my question is now this---- Does the 10% gain stack with the alchemy mastery AA??

I still don't understand why people are so down on Alchemy mastery folks.
Maybe they'd like to be really good at it. Maybe it's something they're proud of and perhaps it will be useful again later on down the road, should SOE every add new potions.
If they have the AA and want to put it in, hey, it's their AA. Comments about how hitting the destroy button would be easier than throwing the money away on buying the components aren't to insightful. The post was a simple question as to wether or not the AA helps make the GM bag.
Let people do what they want and don't belittle them for it.
You don't like the idea, good for you. Some people are glad that the AA exists.
