  • 234 to 300+ in alchemy skillup please help

    Hello all
ok heres the deal I have my skill in alchemy up to 234 and was told to get a bunch of nodding blue lillies to advance, well i have about 200 now and when i went to check recipes for them they all seem to be 300+ trivial...so my question being does anyone have a list of the pots i should make that also will give me a return to advance that hopefully won't be to expensive to make or maybe the list that I missed for the nodding blue lillies...thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

Hehe, yes you are looking at the right recipes.

They are called "Distillate of ____ X" (the blank is either health, celestial healing, divine healing, clarity or alacrity). There are lower distillate potions; however, the drops needed are not easily farmed minus the deepwater ink, but I thought lilys were easier to come by. Everything you need for the potions can be found in the pok alchemy shop, minus the lilys. At first you won't succeed very often, but for every lily you get 5 potions when you don't fail. You will end up with a lot of potions. LOL. I was giving them away to guildies, friends, and selling the rest in the baz.

There might be other potions you could make before going to the X potions, but if you farm the lilys, the X potions are pretty cheap to make. You will need more than 200 lilys to get to 300 skill though.

    Good luck!

You will need, literally, THOUSANDS of NBL's to hit 300, much less max your trophy.

As for best 'bang for your buck', I'd suggest Clarity X and Haste X. Those seem to be best sellers.

Hehe, I was trying not to discourage them by telling how many lilys it took me. LOL.

I think I used close to 2000 lilys to get to 300 and still working on maxing my trophy. I have been selling alot of the celestial healing and the clarity pots on my trader. the health potions seem to move the slowest. This is of course after I fill the guild bank to the top and any friends who want ot might want any pots.

IMHO farming Deepwater Inks will net you a better return on your plat per skill-up if you vendor/bazaar off the excess at your skill level. From what I gather lately about skill ups it doesn't matter if your using a red or yellow recipe, however using NBL's from 234 is a waste on the time spent farming these because of all the failed combines. Any plat most people get back skilling-up also feed other tradeskills.

With all the new tradekskill drops in all the zones I think Seb has it bad because it reduced the drop rate of NBL's to about 1 in 10, this I really don't like but since the market needs to be flooded with new t/s drops before they will be adjusted, I will just keep feeding the EQ timesink issue again, sigh hurry up and wait.....

Farm D/W Inks for 2 routes to skill up ....

Haven't tried farming Lily's myself since the expansion release but if i remember correctly i did healing/clarity ix potions till about 260ish and then started farming lilys till i got to 300 and kept going till i maxed my trophy. Though i wouldn't rule out doing healing X potions from your lvl. The cost to make several stacks worth of potions is only a fraction of the cost to buy the same ammount. Turn around and keep a few of your successful combines for yourself and sell the rest in the baz and you could still break even or possibly even make a small profit depending on the current baz prices on your server.

Is the skillup calculator accurate for Alchemy? I did 3 large batches of combines over the weekend (30 to 130,) and got fewer skill ups than expected from each batch. And yes, I am well aware of how the range works as I have 2 skills to 300 and several more over 250. But with Alchemy I have never seen an instance where I get more skill ups than expected. Maybe I just have bad luck .

                    Ignore Lilys

Ignore lilys, use deepwater ink. Its 300+ in the triv, dirt cheap materials, nice cash gain even if vendor sold, easy to farm.

Sorry who ever is moaning about alchemy never did any of the really hard TS before the revamp.

I did most skilling up on deepwater inks too. Out of pocket expenses are a bit lower and the best place to farm inks is a ghost town (Siren's Grotto) that's fairly easy to hunt even in the low 60s. You can also hunt inks in Kedge Keep at an even lower level.

Nodding Blue Lillies will give you an easier product to sell if your server market isn't flooded already (check the bazaar and see what your server market is like). Compare costs to market value before trying to sell them. You may be throwing money away.

Sebilis, the best place to farm lillies can be troublesome. It's a good spot for tribute farming and has a few high-ticket loots like Truncheon of Doom that people like to farm for the bazaar. It may be occupied frequently which interrupts farming effectively.

Under 65 Sebilis can be a pain due to chain aggro too. Runners can be dangerous so some classes may have trouble farming here at lower levels.

Both methods are viable but look into each and see which is better for you.
