  • Potion of Calimony /Soluan's Vigor

Did they totally remove these, and not replace them at all?

Eqtraders now shoes ice giant toes arnt used for anything... I am lookin got a potion that will slow my melee speed. Is there anything else?

correct I did not re-make these.

And I do not think I will.

The use that people use these for is a minor exploit. Though it may not be an exploit we really care about, we are also not going to support it bay re-adding the potion.

Of course my opinion could change if I am given a non-exploit reason for its existence.

And please, I just cannot think of a better word. I know exploit has some emotional ties to it, but really... it is "abusing game behaviour for advantage where it is not intended" which in one word is "exploit" I am not pointing fingers, I am not accusing, just stating that the way this potions is being used is not what we want, and not what the potion was intended for, so we do not plan on returning it.

Since the potion no longer exists, and there is no fear of spreading a "abusing game behaviour for advantage where it is not intended", can you explain how this item was being "abusing game behaviour for advantage where it is not intended" (aka exploit)???

I'm just curious... and want to follow this thread beyond a simple "something that doesn't matter, did something, that no longer matters because it doesn't exist, so don't worry about it, even though there is nothing to worry about anymore, so drop it and pretend you never read this" explanation.

At a guess if it slows melee speed, it'd be for warrior AEing with the Earthshaker.. I recall reading something about the slower your swing the more frequently the weapon proccced, so a potion that slows your swing rate would mean you won't have to /duel someone with a slow spell and hope it lands.

As I heard it from my hubby (who plays a warrior), the amount a weapon procs is based upon the delay of a weapon, so by slowing a person, it increases the delay of a weapon and can therefore proc more often. When used in combination with a discipline that allows for a person to hit something when they are hit, you can pull a lot of mobs, use the discipline and then kill everything around you by procing with every hit you take. That is the reason that people want this potion or the reason that I assume. I didn't think it was an exploit really but I don't completely understand the reason it would work like that and have never seen anyone do it. Plus I thought that the Earthshaker already had a huge delay, so the potion wouldn't really be needed to use that one. I don't know, but I didn't use the potion so I don't care if it comes back, lol.

Basically procs are caculated on a proc/time basis. So if you swing less, then your proc/swing increases since it still wants your to have the same proc/time. With a high delay weapon like earthshaker, Maxed out weapons affinity, and good amount of CE, With no haste item, no haste spell, and slowed with sham/ench slow, u basically get 80% proc rate /swing, so if you pull 30-40 mobs, and hit rampage (1 attack round per mob in range), with a weapon that procs a AE with unlimited targets, then u can proc 20-40 times, so if the proc is 400 ****age, you can deal 8000-16000 ****age, long as the m obs have less hp then that, they all die.

These days its really only effective for farming tradeskill componets in a very few number of zones, and for factioning. Since they made some factions a total pita to get up(uguk/vp), it makes it a little less mind numbing of a way to get faction.

The other way is using torpor, it basically has the same effect as the potoin. If you really want to do something, you should look at that spell also.

Also, theer was a potion that behaved liek a DoT, and prevented you from being mezzed, since the DoT would break the NPC's mez. Not sure if that's still around or not....

Regen doesn't matter for that application. ANY damage breaks mez instantly even if you then regen it back on the next tick. Works when dueling also.

                    Thanks for the clarification!

I was wondering why Earthshaker was so expensive.... thanks for the /eye opener!

(Actually, that would be a very good potion -- Eye Opener: grants one answer to a stupid question by a big, dumb barbarian shaman!)

We plan on bringing the dot potions back, as we feel their use is more "reasonable" I just have not been able to fit it in

BUT they will be turned into a De-buf, so they cannot be removed early, and will keep you out of OOC regeneration. So they may not be as popular as they were.

They are especially usefull on long fights. I still have a 5 dose potion of stinging wort on my main, and plan to see if the self-dot helps at all with Daosheens mez.

I hope they do come back soon
