  • Essences of Gukta/Froglok - good sellers?

    I have a good source of froglok blood (over 100 saved up so far) and skins so I'm considering these in my skillup path - but only if they're good sellers in the bazaar. They cost 51 plat per combine, so I probably would consider it only if I could sell them for 100p or more. Anyone have any experience selling these and at what price?

    I have a question along that line as well. Do the Essence of **** potions modify faction?

      The illusion potions partially modify faction, however it's not in and of itself a way to guarentee positive faction, even with that race. Religion and Faction Hits also play a major factor.

      For example: Taking an Illusion: Iksar potion will make your faction with iksars somewhat better because they are rather xenophobic and have negative racial faction mods with every other race in existance. However, if a follower of Mith Mar were to do it, he'd still get attacked, because his religious views are rather dimetrically opposed. Likewise, taking an Illusion: Human potion will not enable an iksar to walk into the Qeynos temple of Rodcet Nife without getting ganked due to religious differences.

        I've sold the gukta potions for 150-250pp depending on competition. They sell slowly, a few every now and then. They are fun to use - frogloks are the only race that can /rude really well afaik. Good luck.

          One good thing about the gukta potions is that if you wear one, you can go to Dar Forager in the Rathe Mountain camp and turn in 3 lq pelts for 1 mq pelt, and 3 mq pelt for 1 hq pelt.

          The illusion makes you indifferent and that is enough to do the quest.

          So worth it for those pelt hunters who want to trade in their useless pelts for higher quality ones.

          However after paying 300 for one to do that... just to see how the quest works, Im going to force my lazy chanter to do the quest so I dont have to buy them anymore!

            A few people on my raids who've got Persistent Illusion use froggylok potions instead of shrinkin', just 'cause it's more fun. Nobody wants to illusion gnomie anymore after everybody had to in Uqua

              They sell ok but keep in mind that since Forglok Blood and Green Froglok skin are probably the commonest of all the Essence ingredients to obtain (either via looting yourself or purchasing other people's loot from NPC's) that they are among the "easiest" Essences to make.

              In a word: Competion. Competion drives prices down because so many people want to sell their stack 1st, rather than exercise a little patience. You'll only be able to sell for 100p when all the lower priced competion has sold theirs (or no competition is online). It can certainly happen, if u are patient enough. People will pay that, and a lot more, if that's the going rate when they are shopping.

                I just the other day managed to level my shaman alt to 25 and immediately began working on Alchemy. These illusion potions will get you to 210, but, frankly, they're kinda costly to make and I wanted to skill up at a lower cost and without having to sell all the piles of potions I make so I wouldn't go broke.

                Here's the path I took from a skill level of about 100 or so:

                philter of the wolf iii (trivial 135) -- Increases run speed 45%

                * betherium bark -- Henrik O`Danos -- 6g2s9c
                * simple potion vial -- Henrik O`Danos & Andreas O`Danos -- 1p5g7s4c
                * sprig of birthwort -- Andreas O`Danos -- 1g4c
                * sprig of fenugreek -- Andreas O`Danos -- 1g4c
                * dash of wolf blood(2) -- Henrik O`Danos & Andreas O`Danos -- 1g4c

                philter of the titan (trivial 152) -- Grow

                * bugbane -- Henrik O`Danos -- 7g8s7c
                * tri-fern leaf(2) -- Edvard O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * curuloth(2) -- Edvard O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * plain potion vial -- Henrik O`Danos -- 1p5g7s4c

                elixir of the avian vi (trivial 170) -- Required Level: 25 -- Increases wisdom

                * burdock root(3) -- Edvard O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * bugbane -- Henrik O`Danos -- 7g8s7c
                * duskglow vine -- Edvard O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * plain potion vial -- Henrik O`Danos -- 1p5g7s4c

                elixir of the ursine vi
                (trivial 179) -- Required Level: 25 -- Increases stamina

                * sage leaf(3) -- Edvard O`Danos & Severg O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * bugbane -- Henrik O`Danos -- 7g8s7c
                * duskglow vine -- Edvard O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * plain potion vial -- Henrik O`Danos -- 1p5g7s4c

                philter of the wolf v (trivial 210) -- Increases run speed 55%

                * birthwort -- Edvard O`Danos & Severg O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * fenugreek -- Edvard O`Danos & Severg O`Danos -- 5g2s4c
                * dragonwart -- Henrik O`Danos -- 2p9s9c
                * smooth potion vial -- Henrik O`Danos -- 2p6g2s4c
                * measure of wolf blood(2) -- Edvard O`Danos -- 5g2s4c

                These potions are all made entirely using supplies sold in the alchemy merchants room in POK, all are inexpensive to make, and I either sold them back to the merchants (taking a bit of a loss on them), saved them for later use myself, or, in the case of the philter of the wolf v potions, I put a few hundred of them in our guild bank for folks to use.

                I'm still looking for recipes to use after 210. (There's a lot to sort through and a lot of them require farming or are costly to make.) I'll probably make a post to reveal and explain my choices when I eventually figure them out.

                For the record I didn't spend a lot of time digging for the recipes I chose and it may be that there are others that would have been better choices, but, hey, it was quick, fairly cheap, and I blazed all the way up to over 200 in just a few hours without having had to do any farming at all.

                  Yes. Essence of Dark Elf will let you in the Dark Elf city without being KoS. Just don't let the Illusion fail while in there

                    Looking over this, seems like a good skill up path. I have one that will get you from just starting to 230ish. All store bought and player made items. I have not taken the time to write it down to transfer it here. It is cheap and most everything in the list is a good seller or usable by yourself (on alts ). I have sent the same list across servers to shamans a few times. If you would like to take a look at it, I am happy to send your way. Just email Qnari on Bristlebane server

                      Actually I'm having fun poking through the recipes list myself to find good skillup recipes. The databases here allow me to locate so much info so quickly I don't mind doing the research.

                      I'm currently examining drop rates and forage rates for some of the things used in recipes with trivials from about 240ish and up. I have a feeling I should be able to find some recipes that woin't be so bad to use for skillups.

                      So far I'm mainly looking at things like Nodding Blue Lilies, Hearty Goblin Blood and Deepwater Ink. I think I can get a decent enough farm/forage rate on those items to give me a viable path to 300 from where I am now at 209.
