Formed/Worked/Shaped/Basic Suspensions?

How much of a difference in the effect is there between the different types of suspensions? Which ones are the best? I had not dabbled in them before the new system so i have no idea what sets them apart. At the moment I am making the Formed Suspensions VII to skill up to 231 before I begin farming for Deepwater Ink and Nodding Blue Lily again.

The difference between basic, worked, shaped and formed is not the effect, but the "throwing" range of each.

Basic = 70
Worked = 90
Shaped = 110
Formed = 150
