  • Distillate of Celestial healing X not good for skill-ups lol

Been working on Alchemy the last couple days..Started getting serious and skill was at 178 so did Philter of the Wolf V to 210 then bought a TON of Nodding Blue Lily's in the Baz. First run was 730 attempts and went from 210-252 doing Distillate of Divine Healing X and Distillate of Clarity X potions.

I had so many of these potions I decided to try the Distillate of Alacrity X and Distillate of Celestial Healing X potions...I bought another 1k Nodding Blue Lily's and tried 200 attempts of the Celestial healing X potions-5 skill-ups..Went back to Divine healing and Clarity potions for the next 300 attempts and got to 286.

Figured maybe it was a run of bad luck on the Celestial healing X tries so did another 100 attempts and got ZERO skill-ups! I find it hard to believe that after 300 attempts I only got a whopping 5 skill-ups for that recipe. In fact after the 100 attempts with no skill-ups I went back to the Divine Healing X potions and first attempt was a skill-up lol!

Just a bit of info for you alchemists to only make the celestial healing X potions if you need them, not for skill-ups, best of luck to ya!

    couple things...

You can make suspension of slime 7 potions to 238 (228? can't remember). Then do lily combines.

Lily combines work just fine for skillups, even celestial. Celestial is all I made skilling up to 300. Skillup rate was reasonable. You just had a bad run. It happens.

Maybe it was bad luck, maybe it wasn't. I know 400 attempts hardly qualifies as proof-positive that the recipe is less effective than the rest but I did go back again and do another 100 attempts with the Celestial Healing X potions and got a whopping 1 skill-up lol. Divine Healing X was the way I found to be the best ratio and made GM Alchemist tonight, Yay me!

I've been doing Celestial Healing X on my baby shaman. At barely over 200 WIS and a skill in the 230's, she was getting a pretty bad failure rate, but its been getting better. I think she may be 270ish now.

I was actually going to chalk this up to just bad luck with the RNG for Sonyia, but I am not 100% sure now.

I was working Alchemy with my Shaman who was at 295 skill lvl. I did 200 combines making the celestial healing X potions. I got 2 skill ups. A couple days later I had 180 NBLs. I did 140 Celestial Healing combines and recieved not a single skill up. With the last 40 I said what the heck and made up 40 Alacrity X potions. I got my final 3 skillups needed to hit 300 in those last 40 combines.

Maybe it was just crazy luck swinging both ways, who knows, but I cannot help but have that little doubt in the back of my head for the fact that all of the X potions have the same chances for skillups.

Even if DoCH-X does have a lower chance for success, I'd still use it as my skillup path. Why? Because if you have to make hundreds to get a skillup... that's hundreds you've got on your bazaar mule selling for whatever the market will bare (usually the price is about half the difference between the NPC vendor price and cost).

This will start paying you back all the thousands of plat you've spent on your Alchemy habit, and fund further alchemy production.

While good in theory, not so true in my part of Norrath..Unfortunately on Quellious I'm LUCKY to make 1pp each profit on all the X potions. Not complaining, I'm thrilled they were there for me to get to GM but definitely not for profit if you're having to buy the NBL's hehe. I am happy that I can at least break even.

The only problem with this is that there are alot of traders on Xegony with hundreds of these potions for sale constantly. The Celestial Healing X potions are down to 8pp each while you can still sell the others for 10-15pp each.

They still make a good profit for me even at 8pp each considering it costs next to nothing to make them, but the market does seem to be flooded sometimes.

People go through more of the Healing X potions than the Buffs (Clarity, Haste, HP+AC buff) because they last 30 mins - you can use a Healing potion every 2 mins - so are willing to pay more for those longer lasting buffs, of which they'll use less.
