    Hey all,

I'm new to alchemy. Have been playing around with it a little bit.

My question is, are the old guides and things I have found (Ugzug's Guide to Alchemy, etc.) still valid in the old world?

As you know, The Combine will only have original EQ zones at first. I want to get my alchemy up as soon as I hit 25, and I am wondering the best course to do this. I've searched for guides and stuff, but from what I gathered, they changed alchemy totally?

Even all of the potions are now named something else?

So here are my questions if anyone would like to answer them

Did they change the recipes, so now I will need to figure it out on my own?
Are the old guides still ok for old world learning of Alchemy?
Does anyone have any recommendations for what to make, considering original EQ will be open first, then Kunark, then Velious, then Luclin, etc.? (No timeframe, because it is based on players unlocking expansions)

Thanks for any responses, I want to be ready on day 1 !

Those old 1999 recipes were broken for the most part. I assume they ended up in the Database trash can very quickly since alchemy has had at least 3-4 revamps since then. And good riddence too, they were for the most part worthless money sinks.

All the recipies should be as they are. They aren't resetting everything back to 1999, its 2006, but with just the original 3 continents, then the expansions coming as people unlock them

Some recipies might be deactivated (like DoN Cultural) but I haven't heard yet.

The lists of recipes on the Alchemy Recipes page are all current, active recipes, except for that last list called Single Dose Potions. Everything on that Single Dose Potions list is also individually labelled as (obsolete) so they can be spotted if you stumble across them elsewhere. We're in the process of removing them entirely. There are a scattering of recipes missing from those lists of current recipes, mainly high level versions that people haven't yet reported, and some of the suspensions that I'm adding based on what they should be. Nothing that's missing would be crucial for skilling up and probably not a big seller either if nobody's bothered with them yet, except maybe the philters that haven't been figured out yet.

I have no idea what of the current recipes will be available when on Combine. Full supplies of everything vendor-sold are in Freeport, so if Freeport is left exactly as it is now then everything will be available except those things that use drops from later expansions. That'd get you at least into the low 200 skill range.

We're going to continue to lack a good guide until I get time to write one or someone submits one. In the meantime, Samanna's Reference Desk has a good quick reference guide to the new alchemy. If you've never been there, there's loads of other good info for shaman and non-shaman alike. Excellent forums, too!
