Insane prices?

I just noticed the desireability of once trash drops deepwater ink and nodding blue lily...

But...

Did they massively nerf the drop rates?

I used to go into KK or Sebilis and get stack after stack of these things... but they are selling in the bazaar now on the Rathe server for like 300-600pp ea!

Usually common drops that are used like that like acrylia and velium and such sell for 20-50pp ea.

So Im curious if they radically reduced the drop rate on these items.

Ive killed seahorses or mermaids in KK that have dropped 4 inks on one corpse and in Seb it seems like every other frog drops two nodding blue lilies.. the others drop wax flowers.

Any insights or are people really that rich and lazy these days?

Both to be honest. Since alchemists can't forage (save the iksar) some of them will pay out the nose for these high level componants. the other side of that coin is that there are always people trying to extort money from the tradeskilling community because of the common perception that all tradeskillers have ammased millions of platinum plying their trades.

Consequently the people that complain loudest about most trade good prices are the ones who sell the componants for a mint

Yeah it sounds like people are charging way too much on your server. I know that when I was skilling up I did pay 50pp per lily, but I tried to hold out for 35pp each. I also think they nerfed the drop rates. I took my 65 shammy to Seb and killed frogs for 2 hours and only came away with 20 lilys. Seems like different parts of the zone drop at different rates or I just have really bad luck. LoL.

Another scenario might be that Trader_A has the item listed at an extremely high price. All the reasonably priced items sell, leaving only Trader_A's item. Now new Trader_B wants to sell the item, does a /bazaar check, see's it offered for the outrageous price and prices accordingly. Rinse and repeat...the prices then remain high until traders are forced to lower them in order to move the item.

Well today I just checked 5 mins ago... two traders up with lilies, none with ink.

Trader 1 1200 lilies 100pp ea
Trader 2 350 lilies 500pp ea

Will update the insanity from time to time. LOL

As for lilies, for some reason I found they tended to drop most often from the frogs in the chef area of the joint... chef, armsman, Froggy etc, bartender I think and so on... that section, first right after you go down the ramp.

just so you know

i'm pretty sure the lillies only drop off of casters, and the melee drop the wax flowers. now i haven't noticed that there seems to be an area that has more casters than melee, but there could be. it is also possible to get runs with more of one type than the other. just the wonderful RNG.

I got LOTS of the Deepwater Ink in Sirens Grotto looking for my Ailing Walrus for 1.5 They dropped pretty frequent. Mostly LB mobs at 69. ( Fought on the WW side)

But that does sound like insane prices. I hope noone buy them at those prices, then the prices will go down.

Lilys on the Seventh Hammer have been going for the range of 50-100pp. I don't buy them if they are above 50pp and I hardly ever buy them at 50pp. Think that there are some people that are buying at the insane prices or else I would think they would be going down, but I haven't noticed them being any cheaper than that.

Also, I did notice that the casters seem to drop the lilys more often; however, I know that I got a lily and a wax flower off of one of the froggies. The shammy froggies seem to have the lilies more often that the other casters... hmm wonder why hehe.

For Inks, it's far easier to hit Kedge Keep, head over to the area with the Sirens (and Estrella of Gloomwater) -- this is also near the "Seahorse caves" -- this is two dozen or so low level mobs. Just be aware that a lot of the Mermaids like to Dispell your buffs, so make sure you have a perma-EB-item.

I hate the bazaar sometimes. My buyer offers 30k per drake scale and hide, but I looked there earlier and saw 2 merchants with a stack each for 35k. That's just plain greed.

Greed, and poor dumb suckers who pay their prices. I have a low level druid I forage with and get a ton of Lillies and give them to my Wife's shaman or to Guilde Mates. We Have another Paly who is 70 Farming in SG and he puts the DwI in the GB for our Shammies to use. When I get either my Necro or Druid high enough I too am going to help out our Guild trade skillers or help out others on my server. I will never gouge others, simply because I can.

The DWI is also used in a subcombine to make goo for the AAAA.So demand maybe higher because of that.:-)

Hehe. Yep But I usually got those from you when you weren't in trader mode so other people on the server didn't know that I was getting a good deal

Seems like the prices have come down a bit lately too. I think some of the traders got a little carried away , but they seem to be anywhere from 35-50pp now. I think a lot of shammies were skilling up to 300 and most have gotten it so the lilys don't seem to be as hot an item anymore, but that might just be my perception. I still am making the potions, but not any where close to the amount I was I just ran out of the lilys that I bought from you back a month ago. LOL.
