  • Ngreth-question on beginners alchemy

    Ngreth,

As this is my first post, I hope I am not violating any rules by asking this...but to do the beginners alchemy quest for the evolving alchemy item, I am just wondering why in the quest we are required to make 2 items (essence of troll and essence of half elf) that have a rumored skill level of 210?

Seeing as I am a beginner alchemist with a skill of 55 currently, this seems a little out of proportion to the item itself. Not to mention the items required are quite pricey (fangorth is 55pp each). All other items come up in the level II range and are well within my ability to make.

This is not a rant...I am simply curious as to why 2 such high end items are required to complete the quest? Seems rather silly to get the beginners alchemist item after getting my skill from 55 to around 190 to have a shot at combining a 210 skill item, for an evolving item that is supposed to grow with me during my chemist career. Wouldnt this then make me an intermediate or advanced alchemist? I dont truly understand the progression, so forgive my ignorance on this, but my understanding is that it has 7 stages? I want the stage 2 item...which corresponds with my skill.

    Any enlightenment would be appreciated!!

Many of the trivials got changed. Not sure if all did. I presume that the illusion potions did.

      Essence of Half Elf?

Ewww. The only place I know of that you can find Half Elf meat as a rare drop is Togiran Mines.
I saw on Alla's a rumor that you could find it on the bandits in Gfay but I've never seen them drop anything but wood elf meat.
      I shall have to investigate.

Essence of Orc is trivial 195...

I DO have some Half Elf meat saved on an alt for a special occasion so I'll make one up and verify the trivial on that combine for you as soon as servers come up.

I have gotten it in Jaggedpine, off of the occasional MALE half elf bandit.

Confirmed. Yes, Essence of Half Elf IS 210 trivial.

That is odd for a beginners' quest.

You may want to submit a /bug report.

Folks, remember that these are NOT the SOE boards. Ngreth can browse and read and respond if he wishes, but he is not obligated to, not here. Go to their boards if you want to address the devs directly.

                Yes 210

Most of the Essence of <name your race> are indeed 210 now. I have made several (failed at gnome) and currently have a skill of 244.

I've made all of them excepting Orc and Froglok (have made gukta). they are all 210 excepting maybe the two I just mentioned. I'd expect the Froglok to be 210 as well, not sure on orc

                    Thank you all

Thank you everyone for your contributions. I really appreciate the help!

I am sure Ngreth has enough on his plate...and I can afford to be patient on this quest. Hopefully he will see it at some point.

It really isnt that big a deal to me as if I advance far enough in skill, I will tank my current quest and get the next level higher. *shrug* Would have to do all the combines anyways!! lol

But again, thank you all for your contributions! Shamans rule as far as I am concerned. Nicest group of helpful people I have met ingame!

P.S. And if you do see this Ngreth, you are doing a great job as far as I am concerned! As a part time DB Admin, I can appreciate all the details you have to keep straight!

P.P.S. That goes for you too Verdandi! Even tho your "Quit Whining" post had me trembling!

So? How is that different from any other forum out there? If you know a secret place where devs are obligated to respond to problems and bug reports, post the link.

This forum is at least as good as any.

It is different because it has been part of our site rules since well before Ngreth started working there. If you want the devs to listen on THIS site, no pestering them to death here. If you feel the need to question my site rules, and/or my staff when they make a post re-affirming policy, you do so in PMs ... I'll be happy to reiterate this there.

/hands MoM the polish for her rolling pin.

No being mean to Ngreth or Maddoc or any of the other Dev's here.
You go be mean to them on THEIR website if you must.

This place is for passing them our fantasies and wish lists in hopes they'll make our dreams come true.
It's also for cheering and saying "THANK YOU" when they try their best, even if it doesn't quite work right the first second or third time.

And if we're polite and appreciative they will continue to listen and be forgiving when we accidentally forget that we're not actually supposed to bring problems to their direct attention on THIS site.

Now, if you feel guilty I suggest e-mailing some virtual cookies to someone important on this site.
