  • haveing to make one of everything

so i got PoR today. got on and decided to check my medicine bag. when i did a blank search it got a very short list for 230 skill. i understand the desire to keep some things interesting and not have everything known up front. but please tell me that at some point i will be able to search through and find the same recipies that i used to be able to find without haveing done them. i used to have all the illusion ones listed, even though i had only made 2 or 3 different kinds.

or am i just not doing a search right. even tried searching for dwarf, but came up with nothing.

I'm at 300 raw skill and my searches only show Quintessence of Knowledge (kept for the gate component) and the OoW augs. You aren't doing anything wrong, they just erased all the old recipes (or almost all) and instead of supplying you with recipes up to your skill level as you make new potions it appears so far that you need to make 1 of everything in order to learn the recipe. Very discouraging that after 5+ years of doing alchemy that I now know nothing about a skill I am a suppossed master of.

      thats because

they don't think these things through, or actually play the game themselves.

if they did, this **** wouldn't happen

And just imagine, a couple years ago, we had to put every single thing in the potion bags ourselves! oh no!

It is so not a big deal that the list got wiped. Instead of having a rant about it, go out and help us solve the ones we are still needing to find.

          rant ?

          Rant ? i haven't even started on those {insult removed}.

I've had 25k of ingredients turn into something that now won't work, and are now worth approx, 50 gold,

rant,, rant? why {expletive removed} would i want to do that ??

and no, i only visit these forums occasionally, so missed the warning message. - no dev or anyone else responsible in EQ has the right to remove existing items. and turn hard work into mush.

eg: you wake up and find 500 blue diamonds you had in your bank, now sell for 1 copper each.

Ngreth did something that I have never seen before from a Dev. He posted that Attention Alchemist notice on just about any board that a shaman or anyone else for that matter would see.

We'll not get into the 'rights' issue as that is beating a dead horse.

Because you failed to be informed of a change through a lack of effort by yourself, not the Devs (Namely Ngreth) is no ones fault but your own.

It won't take long for those of us actively working towards rebuidling our lists to get the potions figured out and Verdandi to put them on the site. This has happened before and it will happen again likely. I for one am glad of that, if they didn't care about us at all we would never have had the notice at all, and Tuesday would have been a much bigger deal...

Maybe time will settle the hatred you seem to have bottled in ya

              yes

Yes Magsham, and i applaud him for it..

but if they had thought about it, beforehand. all they had to do for the new alchemy recipes is not use any existing herbs, and leave the prices alone. at least then you could sell what you had back.

              in fact, they should have:-

              1) Create new recipes.
              2) Put them on NEW npcs
              3) Leave it a few weeks /nuke old npc's

Its not so much hate as sheer frustration at raw laziness.

I'm trying to figure out potions, in fact I missed posting the solution to Immunization III by only a few minutes. I had figured out the recipe and came here to find that someone had posted between visits. My big complaint is the other potions. Yes I remember click-n-drag ingredient by ingredient, but we have recipe book favorites now. If you do any tradeskill, and I work them all, as your skill goes up you find new recipes in your favorites that you never made. All other skills work like that, alchemy used to work like that, will it work like that again is my question.

{cough} It is NOT raw laziness when they have SUCH a huge item database that they've run into issues on more than one occasion due to using up the available allocation and having to code in extra capacity for something that should have held up for another year or two. Leaving around dozens of herbs in there that are no longer used for the rest of the life of the game (because you KNOW some folks would packrat them even after they're no longer used, so they'd have to be kept in the DB) isn't a happy choice either.

Reusing items when they can IS a common practice, it IS their "right" as the developers of the game to do such (which is part of why they DO warn you that game experience is subject to change), and it does happen.

I'm sorry you missed the warnings that went out well in advance on multiple sites, but insinuating that the devs are lazy and don't play the game or think things through because you missed something vital isn't going to fly here. A LOT of hard work went into the changes, and while you're welcome to your opinion (and further griping should go over to Primal Scream), slamming the devs has never been welcome on this site.

Shutting this one down before it degenerates further (though I agree the original question is a good one, the thread itself is getting to be a bit much). Expansion time is *always* a high-temper time, and burnt-out staff (and site owners) have a lot less tolerance for things right now.
