have tried so many combinations of different things, read the books, and still not one thing I have tried will combine; am I missing something???

You are most likely using the wrong size herbs or vial.

I can't seem to find a number of the key herbs (eg Vox's Dust) either in the Abysmal Sea or in the Plane of Knowledge. I suppose I could try and slog around to all the old alchemy vendors but since it's 2am here and I've wasted over 2 hours on this, I'll leave it for now.

I know I saw Vox's Dust on Alch vendor in Abysmal, and probably the biggest curveball will be what type of vial to use.

I visited my first alch vendor in west cabilis and he had very very basic supplies.

In Abysmal there are now 5 or 6 Alchemy vendors, and there are tons and tons of new stuff, so you have to be careful, as I wasn't before my server crashed 2x, and try not to miss what you need. I believe everything is there, even former Gunthak herbs, like Briar Thistle.

Beware of grabbing a bundle of a herb when you only need a sprig of the herb, etc.

I found Vox's Dust and the other 'power level' herbs on 2 vendors in Shar Vahl -- but none of the vendors in PoK had it (at least on Antonius Bayle).

I still haven't been able to find 'regular' Duskglow vine either (haven't checked the old vendor in Shadowhaven yet) -- but the other sizes of this are on these vendors, so to me it seems a bit pointless duplicating stock that way unless the intent is to FORCE people to visit old expansion areas.

hrm. I will re-check the PoK vendors... could have sworn I set them right.

The Beta Merchant fiasco had me a bit skittish... and I may have not re-set things properly on the PoK merchants.

For now though there are "4" merchants for alchemy

1 with the "smallest" sizes, 1 with the small sizes, the pre PoR merchants have the medium sizes (that is the reason 4 is in quotes... since there were a few types of these, and all I did was ad a few things to most of them), and 1 with the large sizes.

The "large" sizes will only be found in the "mall" zones like shadowhaven, abysmal, etc... I have some set for PoK... but I will make sure they are spawning when I get to work. If not I will fix them (sorry... like I said... skittish!)

Ah yes, the ever ignored Steaon Alarenier! Thanks Bonkius for the reminder. For those who forgot, Steaon is in the room near the Soul Binder/Nexus Teleporter.

Steaon does carry a few of the items in the higher level combines, but I know Vox's Dust is on one of the merchants in Abysmal. You can get everything in Abysmal except Huge Brick of Clay when you need to make a special vial or some of the old expensive Luclin ingredients, which Steaon carries in SH.
