  • red cups ---where to farm or even worth it?

Just reached 202 and looked at the next heal potion and requires red cups that are foraged in several zone. I set up foraging in bloodlands and after 2 hours there was 34 items I foraged. Holy cow I was saying. No way I can forage/skillup from these as there was like 5 red cups. Triv is like 255.

I have 2 accounts so when I'm raiding i just glance over and click on forage. I don't mind farming for parts. Just need some advice if I should do a higher triv item which is easier to obtain. Appreciate any input. Thanks

Redcups, I saved a bunch of those from my druid so my shaman could use them but quickly ran out. They are no longer on the vendors as everyone is after them. My shaman finally had to bite the platinum bullet and do benefit awareness IV. After that I have been working with Ocean ink combines.

Well, you could use a third party program to do auto-forage...Auto Fire
I use it and works fine for foraging while im playing.

        path to 300 alchemy.

a few humble sugestions on your quest to skillup.
        1) Get Alchemy Mastery 3 !
        2) Get wis as close to 370 as possible (check the skillup formula for why)
        3) There is no single path to skillup, use all that is at your table, save the higher skillup components for when nothing else will take you to that skill. (employ a mule!)
        4) Get salage if you can, fails will every now and then return ingredients.

Some of the paths to skillup

Deepwater Ink (drops in Kedge and SG)
Nodding Blue Lilly (drops in Seb and foraged in Seb and DL)

Stillmoon Temple (Dragons of Norrath) Foraged
blue nightwort, burnberry, cryptanthus, deadly ivy, draconic essence, firefly, luminous ivy, marsh algae, mature silkworm, nettle creeper, sky vine, silkworm larva, starshine moss, spiny fruit, silkworm, red cups, storm cloud,

Mob drop (infrequent to rare from many DON zones):
Basalisk Saliva(& mature), burnberry, deadly ivy, draconic essence, Drake Saliva (& mature), firefly, marsh algae, nettle creeper, red cups, silkworm, sky vine, storm cloud, quicklime, wood ashes.

Ensnaring Concoction Iv Triv 207 (silkworm larva)

Elixir Of Concentration Triv 212 (Vendor cost 71p per)

Elixir Of Divine Endurance Triv 223 (Vendor cost 64p per)

Awareness Iv Triv 228 (storm cloud + cryptanthus) & ***
*** Distance (nettle creeper), Efficiency (blue nightwort), Regeneration (marsh algae)

*** Awareness Iv Triv 228 (Vendor cost 161p per)
*** Benefit, cold, disease, heat, magic, poison.

Greater Mystical Infusion TRiv 234 (Vendor cost 67p per)

Elixir Of Greater Concentration TRiv 244 (Vendor cost 87p per)

Potion Of Mystical Aptitude Triv 255 (Vendor cost 120p per)

Elixir Of *** Viii Triv 255 (Red Cups + 20p)

        Concoction Of *** V Triv 256
*** Corrosion OR stunning (wood ash), Flame (drake saliva), Ice (Basalisk saliva), Ensnaring (silkworm)

Awareness V Triv 275 (Storm cloud + Draconic essance) &***
*** Distance (nettle creeper), Efficiency (blue nightwort), Regeneration (marsh algae)

        {IMO the other variants [heat, magic, poison, disease] use the same rare item (draconic essance) and add the weight of an EXTREMELY overpriced vendor reagent and inflate the price to rediculous cost per attempt. Skip the plat sink, or sink the plat in the bazar for single forage drop ingredients.}

Elixir Of *** Ix Triv 302 (Deepwater Ink + 30p)

Concoction Of *** Vi Triv 311
*** Corrosion OR stunning (quicklime), Flame (Mature Drake saliva), Ice (Mature Basalisk saliva), Ensnaring (Mature silkworm)

        Elixir Of *** X Triv 348 (Nodding Blue Lilly + 45p)

        Have fun

Your other option is to set aside some time per day to check merchants. It's amazing what you will find.
Also the Druid at the ring in Lavastorm is killable (easy kill and no faction hit). It takes 5 odd mins for the server to reset her. This will clear her inventory. Make sure there is no one using her at the time and be sure to check her before doing the above.
Mensei 88 Rogue (Gnome) Sal3, GM 300 in all base tradeskills +Tinkering & Poison Making (Melee Research 296 - getting there)
Menssia 75 Cleric (High Elf) Sal3, GM 300 in all base tradeskills (except Research)

If you can farm sebilis well, then go farm the Nodding Blue Lillies and have at it, should be able to get 100 in an hour or so. It will be much faster then trying to forage drops, wish they had put them in before i used the foraged items to 300.

red cups have started droping from regular stillmoon mobs. i got one or 2 from them during a run through there. but i forgot to record just what mob dropped it. so if you can solo in stillmoon, it might be an idea to get xp and tradeskill drops from there.

and while you may fail a bit more doing blue lillies, they do seem to be the easiest to farm yourself.

                What level/class is your forager?

                62ish ranger? Headshot farm Seb.

60-65 druid? Try foraging lilies while running DL tasks.

Under 60? Go farm ink with your shammie.

Mostly I just farm Sirens Grotto for the inks. Although a recent patch changed the mobs there: more hp, hit harder, and about twice as many see invis mobs. And almost every mob in the zone is light blue to a level 70. If you're lucky, about 1 crushed diamond dust per hour will drop (which appears to be about 1/3 the previous drop rate).

I gave up on the red cups (as well as silkworms/larva/matures and quicklimes) since there are about 40 different forages in the DoN expansion. The only way I could see a stack of red cups would be to leave a forager auto-foraging for several days, non-stop. I'm sure the powers-that-be would disapprove of doing that. Doing missions, I might see 1 useful item foraged or dropped during the entire thing.

My opinion is that the red cups are too rare to be worth considering as a skill up path. Skip them and proceed to ocean inks (level 9 elixirs) and nodding blue lilies (level 10 elixirs). They are so rare that even if you are too low to use the level 9s, you would waste less time farming something else to sell for plat, and just purchase the level 8 elixirs.

The awareness potions sat in the guild bank for about 3 months, and I've been asked not to put any more of that sort in the guild bank.
