  • Adding an Inlay - lose stone on failed combine?

I was reading over at Shaman's Crucible, and there was a report from Beta that when you add the Black/White Gold Inlay to a "Minor" version of an OOW augment stone, the stone will be returned on failure, but you lose the Inlay. Can anyone confirm whethere this is or is not still the case, on live? Does a failure on the final step eat the stone or just the inlay? Note, I'm not talking about salvage AA.

That's correct, you only loose the inlay on a failed final combine, the stone is returned un-harmed.

however you can loose your cut gem on your Alchemy/Poison combine before you inlay. lost 2 "very rare" ones over past 2 days, this ontop of how hard it is to get slugs/flys (and atm im wondering if discordant scoriae has been removed from the game as i havent see any drop since week 1) kinda takes fun out of aug making.

should they be hard to make? yes imo or make the stuff very rare with a lower triv. the double wammy of ultra rare drops and uber high trivs, risking the loss of everything except on final stage 3 combine is a bit much.

*laughs* im not asking for the "need augs OOW" vendor but i really think the guys need to look at the drop rates.

So I said in OOC today, "you can't lose a stone on the third combine" and somebody else said they had lost 3 out of 40. So maybe this isn't true?

What you said was a little vague.. and people often misunderstand unless you are INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC.

The steps needed to get a raw aug to a Pure finished product are long, complex and expensive.

You can lose the stone when you cut or etch. You cannot lose the stone when you inlay.

For the record, the recipes in the database show what is returned on both success and failure. While they are subject to errors in reports same as everything else, the OoW recipes were added to the database straight out of the OoW beta tested recipe information, and should be accurate.

Oh I know the database shows that, thats why I was so confident to broadcast it I even gave the proper credit and said 'according to eqtraders.com.....'

I was thinking that he probably was more likely to be mistaken than the website but I did want to throw the idea out there.

Splunge, you could be right. I look at that and know exactly what I mean but it certainly wouldn't be the first time somebody has misunderstood me

Tripple whammy, don't forget the 6K+ cost of the ingot =(

I too am of the mind that this is just a tad out of balance, the Scoriae is ultra-rare and the triv is super-high and the cost added to it makes it HURT real bad when you fail =/

/nurses her deep wound from last night failure.....
