I was reading on allahkahzam about speculation that the Philospher's Stone no longer drops. While the posts there do tend to indicate that it isn't dropping, I am an eternal optimist and am hoping that the information there is just out of date. Has anyone heard that the stone still drops? If so, off whom?

I am not Totally sure but i am goin to say that it is not in game anymore, 2 reasons first is there is a Geerlok for alchemy now and second is that there has been a lot of activity in GE (were is was suppose to drop) lately with it bein a hot spot zone. I think we would have seen some in bazaar unless it was no drop and have been rotting

I'm pretty sure it is no longer dropping. The Philo stone must still be in pretty decent demand, though. I sold mine for 20K within an hour of putting it on my mule in the bazaar.
My guess is with the alchemy combines needed for the new OoW stuff, there might be more activity for those Shaman who invested their time and energy in this tradeskill.

I can almost 100% confirm it doesn't drop anymore. Since the revamp of GE, several guildmates have cleared the zone upwards of 40! times. No Alchemist Valrona, no Philosopher's Stone.
I'm using a borrowed one to outfit my friends with OOW augs. Some observant person in the Bazaar saw the "bag" in my secondary this morning & offered 100k on the spot. Declined of course. At 20K you made somebody's day :/

Wasn't looking to make a killing... I put it up for what is fair based on how difficult it was to get it, how much use I got out of it, and how important it is in the long run.
Frankly, it will take that person a LONG time to recoup the 20K based on only a 5% better mod on a max skill. You're talking about a VERY slim difference in the degree of success due to having the stone as opposed to not having it and using a geerlok or a GM bag.
I've never been one to gouge prices - and if I helped out a fellow alchemist on my way out the door (ended billing the next day), then anyone who actually knows me would understand that's what I was all about when I played. I despise people who charge too much for items just because some fool will pay what they ask... there's a certain level of ethics that disappeared a long time ago.

My apologies.

You assume that the purchaser is buying it for the bonus of the 10%. Like in real life, many want items for their rarity (what is the "use value" of a diamond for instance.)
I have a philosopher stone and the +15% item from VT now, but I will keep the stone around just for the sake of having it as an "antique."Lickity
