We all should be doing the Alchemy refinements in GoD as well. As Taelosian Sludge doesn't havea use yet, it is for Alchemy. We will need it later and you will only be able to use it doing the refinements quests. Anyways, that's 56 free points in Alchemy right there.

Another skillup path is given here:

      http://www.geocities.com/shadowknight57/alchemy.html

Somewhat out of date, and I think could be improved by paying closer attention to the recipe prices; the gap from purity to titan in particular. It has the merit of using close trivials wherever possible.

The GoD alchemy quest will get you to 54 for free, and that should now be anyone's first step.

I'll go look for Rewde's guide now .

GoD concoctions seem to be the least expensive way from 54 to 127. Most important for this is, that their sellback value is much higher than usually for potions so you want to have many successful combines. All components are available from the two herb merchants in Abysmal Sea.

          Here is what I did

I followed the most inexpensive route possible with easily purchased components. I was able to take my Alchemy Skill from 37 to 130 for under 5k. I had 235 Wisdom at the time of these combines and 117 Charisma for purchases.

Heris is the skill route I took to get to 130 (max for my lvl)
1-37 Blood of the Wolf (5.2 pp per combine)
37-76 Potion of Stability (8.4 pp per combine)
76-103 Potion of Purity (8.4 pp per combine)
103-116 Benefit Awareness II (11.5 pp per combine)
116-130 (max for my lvl) Greater Potion of Stability (17.8 pp per combine)

From now on I plan to keep my skill maxed for my level so I do not have a huge expenditure all at once any more. Just enough for 5 skill ups.

            Wandering route

Got out of the game around LoY. But got to about 130 alchemy. I took a more wandering route on my skill ups. Did a mixture of:

Black/Blue/Brown extracts (permafrost crystals, froggie skin/red cockatrice feathers, russet oxides) no costs (either ground spawns or drops)
            and SoW potions 5.5 plat

Unlife Awareness (slow seller most times, but take some to castle mistmoor or Lower Guk, does well there)
            (to 42 skill)
After that did a combination of

Titan 11 plat (cheapest lvl up)

Ants potion 10 plat (pretty good seller for those small raid/multi groups)
Dulsehound 33 plat (more expensive lvl up but gives something to do with all those hill giant toes)
Vial of Tamed Mercury 33 plat (slow seller but usually was special order with Ants)
Kilva Blistering 10 plat (actually this really didn't sell, usually just gave to hunting partners)
Antiweight 12 plat (more of a special order, but was popular with clerics & fighters)

To about 100 skill. What I made really didn't depend too much on trivials, more of what I could afford or what people were asking of me. Most times, if someone wanted a potion above my skill, I would tell them my approximate chance of making the potion. Then if they still want some, I would charge either cost plus 10 percent (for a fixed number of potions) or 20 of each ingrediant and they get all I make. If I was just trying to skill up, usually used Titans (especially during the 80's & 90's).

Whats really fun is to take a few bags of SoW potion ingrediants (or whatever your working on) to a raid. Make potions during those frequent hurry & wait sessions (or combat that doesn't involve you). Got alot of individual business that way afterwards (from all those messages success/nonsuccess group message). (lol.. once was in the same group as raid MT, He got to laughing about how many SoW potions I was making while waiting to retoss slows think it still on Consul D'Tredechims galley photos).

MMmmm.. rambling here.. but one of the points (partially made early) is that with Alchemy you can have fun with it as well as going for Skill Ups; and also, you can get others to pay for your skill ups as well. Partially it's reputation and partially let them be aware it's not trivial to you. I made potions for several guilds for raids/individual uses. If they wanted potions above skill level, why charge full price? They are paying for me to get better at my tradeskill.
            Dragons.. No problem.
            Vex Thal.. Cake Walk.

            250 Tailoring.... Ouch.

The guide is nicely formatted in .pdf - I have it printed out and in a ring binder with my other TS stuff. I thought I had gotten to it from a link here at eqtraders, but perhaps not. The author doesn't mention a homepage -but lists his guild as Brothers of Darkness (http://www.thebod.org) perhaps one could search there for him...
You probably got it from the alchemy forum on the Shaman's Crucible. The link is:

BTW, if anyone hasn't been by The Crucible yet I highly recommend checking it out. In fact, I think it'd be really nice if EQ Traders and The Crucible could just share a single alchemy forum, rather than having two forums with duplicated (wasted) effort. Heck, both even use the same forum software, though EQ Traders seems to be running a more updated version.
