Woot Alchemy Above 200

I haven't heard of this. What makes you think the cap was raised? Was there a pacth message today or something? Please inform, as I am Grand Master and would like to jump on the new recipes ASAP.

I read a few days ago on the shaman board that people ARE getting skillups over the cap. What seems to be unknown atm is if this is intended or a bug.

Speculation includes that it could have to do with the coming new levels and maybe since alchemy is a level based skill the cap was raised to allow for improvements up to what it should be at level 60+.

Absor replied on the EQLive boards that leveling over the Research cap was a bug, so it wouldn't surprise me if leveling over the Alchemy cap were as well.

Remember, they broke the Tracking cap for various classes a while back, then didn't reset those folks who'd exceeded the cap back to it after they fixed the bug.

I will confirm that Alchemy will go above 200, at least to 205, after three stacks of combines after 205, I didn't get a skillup, granted it could be the RNG, but it appears to recap at 205.

Any word yet to as if they are going to fix this or let it run? Curious to know if I need to start gathering up the potion bag and schedule some time in my basement to mix up the medicine.

3 more stacks of resist potions done, no more skillups. I think it may be safe to say 205 is the cap (did this with 355 WIS).

205 would be the cap at 65 provided they hadn't added the hard cap at 200 skill in the first place. So, I wouldn't at all be surprised if 205 was the cap at 65 now.

For the record, the cap of 200 seems to have been lifted as of the June 16 2004 patch; we can now hit skill 205 at level 65. With the upcoming release of Omens of War and higher levels, I bet the Alchemy skill cap will continue to increase up to 230 at level 70.

Don't waste your money skilling up in alchemy and research over 200. According to Maddoc, "It's a bug, and it's possible that those skill points over the current cap may disappear someday." That was in private conversation, not a post somewhere, so you'll have to take my word for it. But don't spend bunches of money skilling up beyond 200 because it might not last.

Yep, Absor already has confirmed that it's a bug... alchemy, spell research, sense heading, etc. somehow got their caps raised above 200 unintentionally... it's a bug and they will all be reset to 200 by next patch, if they haven't been already. Anyone who spent practice points on raising it past the cap will have those points refunded (whether plat will be refunded, I don't know). This bug's already been partially fixed.

Man that sucks, I spent a bunch of plat to raise it those 5 measly points and now there going to take those 5 points away? What for? Not like it makes that much difference, im sure they are going to raise the cap when OoW comes out anyways.

I have not seen anything official, but basing it off of the history of class specific tradeskills and level increases, it does stand to reason that the level cap would go up.
