I'm so with you on this one. My main is a cleric and soloing simply is out of the question. I'm perpetually poor. You want temperance? Good, give me a dot or let me loot the first 11pp worth, otherwise take your heroic bond and like it.

It's all about little goals, over time I've saved my coppers and, by the good graces of my friend, he loaned me the few k I need to purchase a new item (salubrious BP), and I pay him back a bit at a time.

I group with the cleric when I'm in the mood, or I go solo with my BST or MAG. I got thru 51 and 52 with a mix of groups - Dulak, Gunthak, Nadox, PoJ, PoN, and a quick excursion into the PoD.

So my advice is to set small goals, have some fun when you get burned out, or simply play something else for awhile if you're bored. Make a few combines, go farm some silk, play an alt. Remember you are a cleric, you can and will get a group faster than the average person simply due to the rarity vs. importance of the class, and if not, go play a BST, man those suckers are powerful.

Uh, you can replace "druid" with any of the following:

      Monk
      Mage
      Shaman
      Necromancer
(fill in any other EQ class here)
      Human Being

... and still be entirely correct.

There's just more druids, so the idiots stand out more.

I spent 2+ weeks on FV playing a shaman because I was tired of the grind. I came back to find that my guild had been merged with another guild. I've since gained 1.5 levels in less than a week, and I feel better about the whole thing.

On another note, congrats on the JC.

And be careful with that smiling thing. Your face may stick that way.

Yeah, folks, I'm not HONESTLY dense enough to think that an enchanter is a cool uber-strong soloable un-whine-at-able melee class.
Hehe, if you're looking for a class with hp, enchanters aren't it. The truth is we're the guys with the lowest hps who's job it is to tick off all the unengaged mobs. We're a lot like clerics, really. We're at our best when our speciality is needed. Our most effecient contribution to a group is indirect, via buffs. We exist in periods of boredom with bursts of intense activity from time to time...if you can get out of the outdoor zones.

We do solo better, but charm solo'ing takes constant attention and dire charm a lot of AA and a long way down the road. Outside of charm, we do not solo well. Our nukes are ineffecient. We can't heal, can't snare, and our animation can't tank.

Fun class still, but probably not what you're looking for when taking a break from a cleric. Although with your interest in tradeskills, levelling an enchanter up isn't a bad idea, you'll be thankful for the ability to imbue, enchant, and make mana later.

Maybe a necro? Necros are a great class. A highly versatile class disguised in a can't buff anyone else package, even though there are a lot of things they can do for a group. Strong soloer, great for farming comps. Nice DPS. And you can use all your hate to be an appropriate inkie necro. Or go Ikky for the regen and sexy tail.
It's up to you, what you do will decide your own fate.

Most of the monk twinks rerolled as beastlords or bards, I think.
Bah, my "frustrated with all that is EQ and all the people I know in EQ" char is still a monk :P

Doesn't get out to play much, but does his job of dealing with my frustation well.

I have not one, but two monks.

              One is the Culinary Reptile.

Take that as you will =P

Yeah, but...necros do it with skeletons.

                  Some more of my favorites;

Rogues do it in the dark and from behind.
                  Paladins do it knightly.
                  With a shaman, it's a spiritual experience.

I hate every single person that plays the game with a passion third only to heady kiolas and picnic baskets (and you ten folks, I merely mildly dislike, right now), I hate the gimme-gimme attitude,

Now I don't know you so my judgement is limited to what you have put in this thread.

From all the things you wrote, it looks to me like one of two things:
                      1) You are surrounding yourself with the wrong kind of people and are in the worst guild ever created.
                      2) The things people say about you being rude, a nag, or whatever, are true and you just don't realize it.

If you get along with only 10 people on your server, I guess I would lean towards #2.

As someone who knows Nhin decently well (in an online, EQ sense, not reality), I can safely say that she has very strong opinions, and a very firm sense of respect.

On the other hand, she is not unreasonable, mean, or a female dog. She has a very very firm expectation. She and I share the expectation that most people we meet will posess, and demonstrate a small sliver of intelligence (at least). We both know that this is a rarity, but nonetheless we refuse to lower our expectation.

Then again, those of you who speak to me on a regular basis may decide that I am in no place to say what "nice" and "polite" is. :-) :-)

But Nhin is emotional. Not mean, not a control freak, and not a bad person.

If you think most people aren't smart, how is it not unreasonable to expect them to be?

I refuse to think that it is unreasonable to expect people to act with intelligence.

That fact that I have repeatedly been disappointed, and have started to become a bit jaded doesn't make the expectation any less reasonable.

Because it seems cruel, egotistical, and rude to think that I am one of a small minority of intelligent people?

I can live with the frustration at miscommunication and dissappointment of an unsuccessful interaction easier than I can live with the above.
