/rant Bazaar limit

Just out of curiosity, I checked my servers bazaar. Right at this moment there are 57 traders. =) (And still nothing to buy)

And on Lanys I rarely see it get to 500. It was at 454 last night which was a high as I have seen it in a long time.

Yeah, I had never had a problem on Lanys...until just a couple days ago. I think that's the first time I've been unable to go into trader mode, and I've left my char in trader mode almost everynight for the last several months.

For the longest time Xev I never had any problem setting up on trader anytime of the day. About a month ago, I set up at night later than I usaully do by a few hours and it was full. *grumble*

Xev is safe for the most part in finding a spot, but there will be nights it fills now if you set up too late.

I wonder if this would go with the programers/Sony:

Go to NPC in Bazaar
PC: I wish to become a trader.
NPC: Ports you to a spot in the bazaar where you can start trading.

This would fix a lot of the crowding/sitting/pushing/etc. in the bazaar. Placing a player in a specific spot to trade. Let me know what y'all think.

except for people like Kritta, and myself, who ALWAYS do our best to go to the very same spot. People know to look for us there.

It would be a major amount of code, but the ability to instead put items on a "fixed" trader via shared bank slots wouldn't hurt. You can have a whole zone that's totally unaccessable by people with nothing to see, and have a remote buying system. But again, that's a lot of code. An Prexus is at 425 traders atm, counting myself.

a fixed trader? like, i could leave certain items up ALL the time, and go xp, or maybe even log off, and my stuff would still be available to buy?

no. and even if only some of what i just said were the deal, still no. part of the package deal about the bazzar is that it is YOUR charactor, and you have to sit there and deal with your own stuff.


but i do wish something could be done about the upper limit. that, i think, was NOT part of the original package deal.

We hit the 500 trader limit more and more often now on Seventh Hammer. I don’t try to go into trader mode often enough for it to be a major problem for me, as I rarely have anything worth selling, but it’s a royal pain when it happens.

I’ve always thought the best solution to the problem would be to add a second bazaar that would hold another 500 traders. They could even install a teleport platform, like the one between the Nexus and Shadow Haven, between the two bazaars. Other than finding a geographical location to put it, I don’t think setting up a second bazaar would be very difficult to do.

Easy solution

Make a second bazaar zone. Knock out one of the back walls of the existing bazaar and connect a new free zone (like stonebrunt or jaggedpine) that can handle another 500 traders.

By fixed trader I mean like a class trader. That's all the character does, he's perma rooted into a spot in an unaccessable zone. You still log on to him and can chat and such, hes just isolated in a sub-par graphics zone, as in old-world graphics and crappy low memory models. To purchase you would go into the bazaar, and make the purchases through the bazaar search window, instead of going into the zone full of traders and finding the one you need. It should help the issue of trader limit and also ease hte difficulty of buying.
