  • Casino Scam

pretty easy to be fooled, but just thought I'd mention it... only because Casino's in general piss me off to no end...

Blackjack... /random 1 to 10... DOES NOT WORK.... even if the 1 counts as an ACE...

Please don't forget that in Blackjack, there are 4 cards that equal 10 points... the 10, the Jack, the Queen, and the King...

The odds in the game get so messed up when you take out 12 cards (4 suits, 3 face cards), and expect people to play...

Just see so many people get scammed in this and other casinos... I hate them... and I hate /ooc being used in the bazaar instead of /auction... we turn off /auction for a reason... now it's /ooc that's always used... I keep turning stuff off and i wind up getting trained by the guy that /ooc'ed TRAIN to ZONE, that I ignored because he had a casino... GAH!!!

I wouldn't call blackjack a scam as much as I'd call it simply poorly done by these folks who are doing it from the way you've described it.
    Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

I see no reason why it shouldn't work, the issue isn't the values, its randomization of odds. In a real game, *if* I happen to be pure *lucky* enough to get 3 aces in one hand, the odds of me pulling the other are 1 in however many cards are left, which arent very good, compared to 1 in 10 if you /rand 1 10 its a much better shot at it. A more complex but fairer way is /rand 1 52, where every card has a numerical value and your odds of nailing that ace to go with your jack is a LOT harder.

I thought casinos generally used 5-deck decks, or 260 card decks, to limit the ability to "card count" for games like blackjack, thus making the chances of that 4th ace a bit more likely.

1 to 10 vs 1 to 13 is a pretty big differencee, heh. So its not blackjack, its, uh, "10 Card Blackjack"

Depends on the casino how many decks they have in a shoe, tho I think most use 6. Best odds are on single deck games :

Um... casinos, real and EQ, depend on people being bad at math.

Why is "casino operator" running the EQ casino instead of farming plat?

            It's easy money.

If people would just STOP using them AT ALL they would go away. *dream*

But as for the spam ...

I always turn shout ooc and auction OFF when I am going to be spending any time in the bazaar. (just as I used to when crossing EC) Then turn them back on RIGHT AWAY when I zone out. (I also turn clip plane all the way down, really helps with lag, and gives me a visual reminder to turn the channels back on)

Ever wonder why GMs don't help get money back for people scammed by EQ casinos?

            Here's why.

In real life if you see a guy on the street corner offering "3 card monty" would you play?

In real life if you go to the cops and tell them "I have been taken by a con-man" they will tell you "it's very hard to con an HONEST person, usually the victim hopes to get something for nothing, we're really sorry you got con'ed, and we'll try to catch the crook, but your chances of getting your money back are exactly zero."
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

this is black jack, not poker...

you want to get as close to 21 without going over.... and you also have to beat the dealer's score...

10 point cards are very good... 2 10 point cards is a 20, which is a very good hand...

randoming 1 to 10 gives you NO chance at pulling the other 10 point face cards...

just trying to give a heads up to those that do play Casinos... the last guy I talked to said he knows his blackjack casino is corrupt, but it's easier to fool people than to explain a tougher system...
