Anyone else starting to have a real problem with in the bazaar with the spamming of Casinos, and randoms all day long, its starting to really annoy the heck out of me >< anyone else having this same problem.

I don't like them too much.

How do they work? Cos I can't see a fair way that they can work, for either side.

How can you force the casino player to pay up if they lose, how do you enforce the casino to pay if you win?

All seem like 1 big scam.

I put every casino operator on ignore. And because of the constant spam of the randomings every time I go to the PoK book being so annoying, I sent in a Feedback asking Sony to please do something about them.

It seemed to get quiet for a bit; I recall about 2 or 3 months where I never saw a casino.

Then one nite, I'm against a wall in the bazaar, sobbing over the prices on my spells, and some guy next to me inspects me. Some folks don't mind that...I do. He then asks me point-blank if I'd like to gamble. I politely say no thanks. Then he's off spamming the zone.

Since then, they've been on the rise again, and yep, they all go straight to ignore.

I know its a far-fetched dream, but I for one think it would be cool if perhaps /ooc and /shout were disabled in the bazaar. You could still just /say, or /tell to communicate. Bah, such a dream probably isn't even possible :?

The way they work is you gotta trust the casino opperator. THey will take your money and if you win and they dont pay you..... then thats your problem.

As for the money side of it, the odds simply favor the opperator. Over 600 or 650 (on a rand 1000) and you win double...

Simply over time, the opperator will come out on top.

the idea is that the Operator says, 'Give me money and type /rand 1000, if you get such and such a score, you get such and such a payoff.'

The Player pays the Operator first; this makes it a buyer-beware market. The most successful casinos i know/knew of on sullon were the names that people knew, thus 'trusted' (though i know that word doesn't really exist on Sullon) to not scam them.

Player /rands, Operator either pays or gives up a 'So sorry, better luck next time' text. Rinse and Repeat ad infinitum et nauseum.

I personally have never dealt with casinos, i think it's a waste of time, patience, luck, and my money. Though I do know of people who have purchased White Dragon Helms and various horses/lizards from the payoffs.

/shrug. do as you like. i just wish they (GMs) could somehow enforce a minimum wait-time between /ooc-d Casino Ads. maybe even make a blockable channel, and somehow punish those who do not advertise solely in that channel. /shrug.

/feedback = Turn off /random in the bazaar and PoK except inside a group and not have it spam outside that group. This should help the casino problem.

all of the spam I could somehow ignore, were it not for the ineviatble person /shout ing, and /ooc ing..

" I bet my money and won < 10K, 20 K etc> and they /q'd out! I AM PETITIONING"

the GMS DO NOT CARE...they will tell you, rightfully, that once you hit the trade button, it is your problem. Everyone should know by now never to hit trade without being totally sure, as they will not help, but every single day I hear this, I would have no problem with casinos, and I can even see them as storyline, provided there were in , oh say Highkeep? or maybe Shadowhaven? a specific zone that I could choose NOT TO GO TO.

The other posters had some good ideas too, I hope something comes into play

Not true. A casino operator makes a verbal agreement. If you /report it, it can be enforced and they can be banned for scamming.

That said, I'd love to see /random disabled in any zone you can't attack npc's in...PoK, Bazaar, Nexus. No real need to /random there anyway. And if you really do, all have a nearby adjacant zone you can go to and do it.

What's more amusing are the people who play thge legitimate casinos (The ones that don't /q out when you win) and then gripe to no end when they lose.

One fellow had a 'Roll 65+and win double, 95+ and win quadruple' casino going. As I was dinking around with my trader I listened and watched as one fellow rolled a 62, bounced around happily until he was reminded that it was 65+ to win. The fellow then went off on a rant, bickering on /ooc /shout /say about how unfair it was and how he SWORE it was 60+ even though all my backlogs showing the person indicated it was 65+.
The fellow then proceeded to lose 4 more times, getting increasingly whiney and obnoxious about how unfair it was.. and yet he kept feeding the casino opperator his pp.
Another fellow came by, rolled an 86 then proceeded to go into whiney mode because 85+ wasn't triple since 95+ was quadruple... spend about 5 minutes trying to coax the casino opperator to give him tripple with the first person continuing to get themselves on people's /ignore lists.

My personal favorite casino is the 'Pick a number then /rand 1 105 and get 100x your bet.' Some folks have items that you gotta /rand 1 250 or /rand 1 500 to win.
One poor shmuck started a casino like that and the second person to come along bet 100pp and won... surprisingly enough he paid the winner and then gave up.

/rand should definitely be made filterable. No problem after that.

If I could JUST filter the randoming into another separate window where I could ignore it, I would be happy. As it is, I can filter "Other" but it takes some things I actually do want to see with it. =(

I am pretty sure to disable /random in a zone, they would very likely disable the RNG.

The RNG is a nessecity in tradeskills, used to determine success/fail and skill ups.

If they disabled the RNG in PoK, or the Bazaar, I believe they would end up breaking tradeskills in those zones as well.

Although, i am not sure...
