Unrefined Gems - ARGH!!!

I have my 7th shawl, and all royal velium made. Last couple days, did a little hunting in geonid caves, got a diamond and 2 sapphires.

Yester, went into caves to do some serious hunting, with following goals:
1 diamond
1 sapphire
3 emeralds.

There were some shimmering up.
First drop: diamond. Greaves imbued. Good.
Second drop: emerald. Failed on faceting (trivial)
Third drop: emerald. Faceted ok. Failed on imbue (trivial too) :x
Then, FIVE diamonds in a row. All rotted, cause no fellow shawl questers nearby.
Then, sapphire. Imbued second bracer.
After that, two sapphires and a diamond - all rotted.
Logged in disgust.

Why, why, why, of all things, I had to fail on two most inconvenient combines? I'd rather failed 4 times in a row on those blasted greaves!

I had 14 extra sapphires. And 5 extra diamonds. The bracers sell fairly well at 1k each. =)

Yeah, probably should have looted those extras. Don't have much interest in royal velium(all combines are trivial), just want to do shawl quest, but 6 extra engraved breastplates would probably be a good sell.

Guess I'll scoop up whatever diamonds/sapphires I get while looking for emeralds. VH fur is 300pp each on bazaar, so if RV sells for more I can turn a nice profit..... thanks for the idea.

Heh, when I first read this I was puzzled as to why the diamonds would rot as they are not lore. Then it occured to me that they must be no drop,(I play on FV). It took awhile to sink in cuase I made a bundle selling the extra's I had for 1 to 2K plat each in the bazaar.

I seem to have had the worst luck had to hunt for several days to get all the gems needed for my self with quite a few duplicates. Then my I help a fellow druid go get hers and she gets them all within 2 hours of hunting. It was disgusting, but then she always seems to have good luck when it comes to drops.
