So I've gm'd all 6 tradeskills...muddled through pottery, brewing, JC, poked my fingers raw with tailoring needles, smashed my thumbs a few times with a smithing hammer, but in the end, 250 in all BUT Fletching.
I "thought" I was saving one of the easier tradeskills for last. I mean, I knew skillups were slow in Fletching, but I thought "hey, I survived Tailoring AND Smithing, I can do Fletching". Was I wrong!!!
I made it to 202 fletching doing arrows then, since I didn't feel like farming and had some pp to burn, I made bows. Well, about 15k later, I was at skill 218. I cannot explain the pain of going through that much plat for so little skillups. So...off to Acrylica Caverns I go to farm like mad. Two days, yes TWO days later I farm enough acrylica, get one whole aa point, a grimling skin (not sure of the name) mask, and enough Acrylica for near 100 attempts at arrows. I already had the condensed shadow that a friend who was doing fletching gave me after they finished fletching.
So, last night I sit down, make the arrowheads, make the shafts, make the arrows. One skillup. ONE FRIGGING SKILLUP!!! Two days of farming all for ONE STUPID SKILLUP!!!
/em screams and pulls her hair out.
Now I know what you're all saying, "oh, but that's just like smithing, or ohh, that's better then smithing, yadda yadda yadda".
I did smithing, I farmed shadowscream back in the day when swirling shadows were NO RENT and the HSM war was broke! I remember spending 3 days farming Hollowshade, manipulating the war, farming Twilight Sea all for a 100 combines or so. At least with 3 days of farming I got AT LEAST 2 skillups. I don't ever remember doing a smithing run of 100 combines and not getting only one skillup. I would have been perfectly happy last night with TWO skillups in Fletching. But one? That's mockery!!
Now Tailoring, I did tailoring to 250. I spent TONS of time and plats making wyvern armor and ceremonial robes. There were times when I would do 100 attempts and not get a single skillup, but again, in my opinion "it was tailoring, it was to be expected".
I did NOT expect this level of difficulty with Fletching, and maybe that's my problem. I know Fletching was nerfed and made much harder, but now I've got to say, it's right up there on the level of difficulty with Smithing AND Tailoring. Not somewhere around the pottery range like I was led to believe. For the record, my int was maxed at 260, dex was around 150ish, but I didn't worry about dex too much since I always believed the stats that counted was the highest of dex/int/wis. Basically, my stats for fletching are nearly the same as they were for smithing, tailoring, etc.
The sad part of it all is I am 31, yes THIRTY ONE POINTS away from 1750. /cry
Off to either feed more pp to the fletching vendor or farm acrylica...
Cend
