  • Trivial Failure? Maybe not...

    Taken from HERE.

    7) Tradeskills

We will be looking at the chance of failure for tradeskill recipes. We are aware of the concerns of trades folk in EverQuest, and it is on our schedule to review things such as the fact that masters of trade skills can fail the easiest recipes. That doesn't necessarily mean that we plan to change it, but we will most certainly look it over - and probably will change it .
Trivial Failures soon to be a thing of the past? Or even just greatly reduce them? Prepare now for the Primal Screams of Joy...

      <Cough>

Remember the infamous patch of 5/8/02? This could be similar to that. And a lot of people aren't happy with THAT one... imagine tailoring trivials being lowered, so that Wu's only takes you to 115, and such.

I hope they don't reduce the trivial level. I've always wanted to do smithing and have put it off for 4 years now. Now I need it to do some of my other tradeskills. Could have done banded up to a lvl I needed, now I got to get into all the other crap. but I would love if they got rid of or reduced the failures of trivial stuff. nothings worse than having a skill of 200 and failing 3 or 4 times in a row on something that went trivial at 35. I feel if you can fail, then there's room for improvement and you should be able to skill up on an item still then.[/quote]

Has anyone else noticed, since the last big patch, an unusually high number of failures on combines where you didn't use to have that type failures? Example: Solstice Robes...just failed 30 of 30 /cry..... Leatherfoot haversacks..just failed 7 of 10......friend with about as maxxed skill in JC as he could have, including trophy, modifiers, etc, failed on 3 of 4 Valorium Rings of Gallantry, where he used to rarely fail.

Would seriously like some feedback on whether others are seeing this or is this just a fluke. It's given me the serious heebiejeebies, for sure. I'm terrified to combine bags for friends......or to have my friend try more rings. Nothing like having friends give ya stuff to take care of, and coming back with ONE ring...saying well..we have to roll for this to see who gets it.

              Thanks for any input.

                Hmm..

Well this is embarassing for me but 230 combines + (50 failures) and NO skill up points using ribbons from loy and acrylia armor route over a 4 day period. So am still at 183 in tailoring lol. So I have decided to do the Smithing Skill in next week up to Grandmaster instead. Hello oh humming orbs weeeeeee.

Oh and the trivial was 187 in what I was trying to make using ribbons or 188 on the acrylia. So something is definitely wrong here.

                  250 JC + Jewlers Eyeglass

2 of 10 Gem Studded Chains ! Owie Owie... time to bandage my bank balance.

But it payed off - tailoring session after that

                  30 to 35 combines
                  4 Robes
                  3 skillups!
                  Pootle Pennypincher

I have noticed that the LoY Ribbons don't seem to be skillup routs for me anymore. I have 183 tailoring and have been unable to get a skillup though I have done 60 attempts on the ribbons (used to get 1 skillup per 5 attempts). Going back to Solstice Robes heh heh.

I have also noticed a reduction in the number of successful combines on MTP's Average about 30% with 255 wis, 250 skill, Geerlok, and Trophy (used to avg about 50%).

Funny thing.... I seem to have a better average if I use the Pottery Geerlok than the Baking Geerlok (or maybe RNG is just having it's way with me heh heh). I did 40 attempts with both Geerloks and the average was 45% (18 successes) with the Pottery Geerlok and 32.5% (13 successes) with the Baking Geerlok.

                    Hmmmmm........

It may just mean that the skill required changed but... A few months ago at 239 skill I was three for three on nightmarewood bows. Last week, at 242, I was 0 for 3. And then at 243 I was one for two. All with geerlok equipped.

Unmei... what rumor are you implying that I am starting. All the info there is true. No Rumor there that I see. Just a funny coincidence.

                          You should lighten up!
