Four years ago I started playing EQ. My warrior took up tailoring to make her own patchwork armor. Silk armor hit, and she went broke trying that; found out int/wis mattered, and she quit at 30, sticking to her fishing. Created a ranger, who of course fletched. A year later, having poured every coin I ever had into it, her skill was 188, she was still 13 (where she remained till last summer), had made her own Trueshot, and had no use for what trivialed at 200, so her fletching went on hold. In the meantime, my dwarven cleric took up brewing and my monk baking, but neither got very far. Then DaoC hit, and I took a nine month leave of absence.

Returned last summer and got interested again. My fletcher is now 51, and her fletching is 244. Failed the blasted trophy though Created a druid to bake, got reminded just how FUN it is to try different recipes, and she hit 250 without doing the HMP/MTP route. Serenya took up fishing again and got that to 200 (while using the fish to bake), and her brewing finally broke 200 as well (again, I believe in using what I make, so I skilled past 150 on Surefall Ranger's and Grobb's, SO much more fun then just brewing Mino's). In the meantime, the fletcher had to take up smithing (now 150) for her cultural and my brewer pottery (160) and baking (150) to support what she brewed. So I thought, what the heck, let's do the shawl with the cleric, it's been kindof fun doing all these tradeskills anyway.

She has the fourth shawl now, got it in 2 nights (Tanik showed up with amazing speed). Now I face the horror that is tailoring once again, I'm at 75. Almost all my tradeskilling this past year has been easy, and even fun. I have this sneaking suspicion that fun factor is about to grind to a screaming halt though......

I agree that it is harder bringing a Troll into the 1750 club, but PLEASE don't trivialize the effort taken by pure casters as well. No matter what you say, I don't believe 1750's are a dime a dozen, or will they ever be. My main goal is to be a 1750, and I know that no matter the race, it is a hell of a feat!
