  • A little peeve of mine (rant time)

Ok, been playing a froglok cleric for a couple of days, level 9 and having a laugh.

Trying to do the Kor Initate armour quests.... and here is where the problem lies.

I was trying to do things properly, using Forab to get all the components. For the most part, the mobs are still giving exp, so it kills two birds with one stone.

So here I am, I have all the items appart from the helmet (and the armour looks pretty cool, all black with red bits). Now the helmet requires you to obtain a cracked skeleton skull, 2 Bleeder wings and a "set" of moccasin Scales.

Skull was no problem, so many decaying and regular skeletons lurching around that its a necros wet dream... (ew)

The "set" of moccasin scales proved a little more problematic, needing me to kill somewhere in the region of ~30 water and giant moccasins to get them (while at the same time looking out for the fangs and pristine scales)

Now I reach the Bleeder wings..... I got tired of looking for these little bleeders (hoho) and after killing about 20-30 of them decided to call upon Larongs services as tracker.

I have committed what must amount to genocide on the entire bleeder race (well, the winged variety atleast) and I have lost count the amount of feral and adult bleeders that I have wiped off the face of Norrath. I was running round, tagging them (punching cos I found my claws were enough to send them fleeing from me) and then AoEing them to death.

And what do I have to show for this mass slaughter.... one, single bleeder wing.

    ARGH!

    Ok, I feel better now.

    Thanks for your time.

P.S. before anyone chips in about me monoplising the spawns, I am UK based and all the times I was on, I was pretty much the only person in the zone.

Those quests can be a nuisance. I started a froglok pally a while back and was doing the Shin Initiate quests, needed a giant snake fang.

After who knows how long, I ran over to FP and just bought one there, where they are far more common.

I have a warrior, as well. He's level 11, and spent his entire life in Innothule swamp. There are still about 3 items for the Dar armor that I have NEVER seen. The drops are just too rare.

Lately, I haven't played him much, though. It seems every time I log him on, every last kobold in the zone instantly agroes on him. Now that the newbie frogs are all gone, I think the kobold and spiderling population should be trimmed slightly.

Forab likes the spiderlings. Sold 7 stacks of spiderling silk in the bazaar for a tidy sum, so he doesnt mind the spiderlings that much.....

Spiderlings aren't so bad if they're green to you, but they're an absolute terror for low level characters who can actually get experience from them. Attack one and half a dozen add. And when your first spiderling gets low in health, it'll turn and run, attracting even more spiderlings.

The population in that zone is insane.

Sounds like you found your giant rat whiskers (or whatever that part they were going apeshoot for over in QH for the newby quests) - do a feedback/bug that the drop rate seems to be busted - wouldn't surprise me if they thought it was working.

Yes, yes they do add. As described - you're like as not to get a half dozen if you're not careful.

As someone who has taken a newbie froglok cleric AND a newbie froglok warrior through the entirety of both their Tadpole Armor quests within the past two weeks, I can state definitively that, unless SOE changed something within the past week, the "crab spiderlings" in Innothule are not aggro. Neither are they social and they will happily ignore you as you beat the snot out of one of their spiderling brethren.

As for the drop rate of the bleeder wings, yes, it is teh suk. To make matters worse, the bleeders (all varieties) are aggro to the various froglok traitors and exiles, and to Yun Jerahk the Poisoned. So there is a dearth of them in Innothule as they spawn and then get greased by the (usually) more powerful Froglok NPCs.

Just be glad you had to do the Kor (Cleric) armor quests. The thing that gave me the most fits for the Kor quests was the Kobold Scalp, and that was mainly because it took me a LONG time to realize that Burly Kobolds won't drop 'em.

The Dar (Warrior) armor quests require "moccasin poison" for the BP. I've killed a lotta giant moccasins, both with the cleric and the warrior (and with my main 56th level warrior *grin*), looking for both XP and quest drops. And lemme tell ya. The "moccasin poison" (not "moccasin poison sac," not "snake poison sac" from a moccasin) is rare.

Have to disagree on this one. Spiderlings (of all types) are VERY social at low-levels (around 1-3, when they give experience) After this, they wont give a monkeys what you beat up.

I managed to get the final bleeder wing.... crafted the helmet and then went on to get the journal for the newbie weapon

Armour is not black as I first thought, but in fact red (red=80 according to the dye screen) Blame colour blindness and low gamma settings.
