    @#$%!!!!!!!!

Nope, I didn't fail the combine, I simply had the displeasure of one of the most nerve wracking presses of the combine button in my life.

It's really wrong to make one failure result in the loss of everything before it - there's too much in the way of time and cost involved in this sucker to have to drop plat for or refarm the various components.

Thankfully in all of my shawl combines, the only one that ever failed was a final combine for #6 - annoying, but easy and cheap to recover from.

Yes, I know my smithing needs work for #8 - as for my begging skill - SKs don't beg.

I know exactly how you feel.... After failing the final on shawl 5 once... EVERY combine i did after that was done while downing shots of vodka!

It's all worth it when you finally get that 8th one!

I don't know if I could have kept going if I'd failed the 5th shawl - that's definately the stopping point for this quest IMO.

Then again, after all the hell I went through doing the 5th shawl, everything I had to do for the next two seemed easy by comparison.

my in game wife and I were doing the shawls 1 - 7 in lock step, we'd been working hard for the additional ups in tailoring from 158 to 162 - **** hard step through there for some reason... anywho we were all combined but for the last stitch and had just finished a LONG camp day (12hours) in Sirens; when I thought about the grind ahead the next day if we were going to hold out for the 162 I just told her hand me the kit and the tool and just clicked. (got **** lucky too) At that point I just didn't care any more - probly would have thought twice if I'd been sane and not dog tired.

Funny thing is, I've always thought I wanted to be GM smitty, everything else seems to go up so much easier...

LOL - if I had a plat peice for every time that happened to me during the shawl process...

That's part of the reason I developed this little trick to help prevent it - DO NOT FARM THE COMPONENTS FOR ONE OF THE COMBINES UNTIL YOU'RE HAPPY WITH YOUR SKILL if and whenever possible.

I was extremely lucky and didn't get burned once by an impatient combine, but still, what could have been...
